Damaged UK Passport
Same here... VFS... passports replaced in the last 6 months for both my son and I. VFS only snip the Corner once you receive your replacement passport and verify its accuracy (DOB, Names etc). The reason for this is your existing passport, while theoretically void while a new passport is under application is still valid as 'existing legal ID' in Thailand until it 'snipped' - it also acts as an emergency travel document. Thus: I suspect you may have your wires crosses as to the 'stage' at which the snipped the corner off at VFS (The Shoppes at Belle Grand Rama 9), or someone there made a mistake. -

Thailand's Ambitious Land Bridge Project Gains Global Interest
Agreed the rail connection was not a credible project. This is I believe a return to the canal project, which has been around for much longer - no transshipment needed but much more expensive, especially as the largest container ships have got a lot bigger over the last 20 years. -

Damaged UK Passport
Then you would be in Thailand illegally , with no valid I.D passport . Its also illegal for them to cut the corner off without your written permission . The corner gets cut off when you receive the new PP- 1

Application for NON-O retirement (Chiang Mai)
Need clarify that. Generally speaking..to apply for Non O retirement from visa exempt or tourist visa you would require 800k in Thai bank account in your name only on day of application. The funds would need to be shown to have come from abroad. For some immigration offices if the funds have been in the account for "some time" then proof of international transfer not required. This sometimes comes up when eg folk with a Non O-A exit to kill off the Non O-A and start over. Folk should check with their immigration office. As for subsequent extensions.. You require to have maintained 800k for 3 months after application then not below 400k and back up to 800k prior to next extension. Those ongoing extensions using money in bank method do NOT need to show funds from abroad
