Are they fooling their customers?

What follows is not just an isolated experience, but it happens all the time, on different e-commerce platforms.

I'm currently looking for a motorcycle camera, and looking for quality, rather than the cheapest.

I found the D6WL, which is provided by 1 company only, available at an affordable price and getting good reviews.

So for several days I'm searching for that particular set on both well known platforms, using all possible search terms The best price is on Sh**ee for 2089 baht after discounts, and that price remains the same for several days.

So after a few days, I finally place the order.

As soon as the order is completed, I get those options about, you also may like this. And the same camera set, from the very same seller, is then available for 1759 baht.

Since the order isn't packed yet, I cancel the order and place the order at the lower price.

So are they just deceiving their customers on purpose?

I've seen instances where sellers will offer the same product at varying prices. They actually run 3 ads at like low middle and high prices almost like testing different bait!of course the system doesn't show you 3 at once, I often wondered if its a "farang" thing and you get fed the higher price first purely because your browsing in English.

So the text search is horrible on most of the largest platforms

You can use picture search (download or screenshot one of the shots) then load into picture search in shopee (mobile app only)

Otherwise good shopping search is pretty good approach too.

Also tons of products on Amazon are drop shipped or white label out of China - you can do the same approach and copy a pic from an Amazon listing and then find it via picture search in Shopee - this way you use the reviews in Amazon too

Just a thought - are you sure it was an apples for apples comparison? Did the two products have the same memory size, same accessories etc?

On Shopee and Lazada, the right-click and Translate to English is a useful function for checking details and making comparisons.

Exact same thing. In the cheaper listing more versions are available to choose from, but I selected the D6WL
