qwertyuiop
To say I am not a golf fan is somewhat of an understatement but I have found over the recent years the Ryder Cup to be worth watching due to the closeness of the match since the enlargement of the UK team to include the whole of Europe but more importantly because of the format- matchplay. man against man. However the final round of this years Open yesterday at Troon was simply the best golf I have watched with a finale to match. (I had nothing better to do) What a great advertisement for the game- a game which needs it imho as for me it is usually akin to watching paint dry. Perhaps now I will eventually find an F1 race (??) which will not put me to sleep. Sport Ha!
paulfr
Having played golf for more than 40 years as well a making clubs from scratch myself, I can tell you that golf is one of the hardest games there is to master. It takes quite a bit of time, practice and good advice to learn in a reasonable amount of time. The reason is looks so boring is that the average viewing non golfer does not appreciate how hard it is to control the ball. Varying the distance, spin and direction of that tiny ball is not easy. And since the ball just sits there, unlike most other sports where the ball/puck is moving, it looks like nothing is happening. Watch some snooker/pool on Thai TV and notice how the cue ball always seems to give the player an easy shot. That is what golf is except the distances are 100's of yards rather than a few feet. BTW, golf clubs here in LOS are much more expensive than in the states. I am thinking about doing some custom clubmaking to keep me busy. Cheers ....
