I know Denmark well. I am told by Danish friends that the Danish government over generations have retained control over several important institutions in Greenland, including the judiciary, without significantly improving the living standards and general well-being of the majority of the 50k plus population. In other words, and to quote your goodself, treating Greenland as a backwater

You know Denmark well? Did your Danish friends tell you that each year Denmark gives Greenland (a so-called annual block grant) something like $450 million? That doesn’t sound to me like treating it as a backwater.

The money guy that's backed Vance to expand upon his tech dream of owning his private island lair.

He first brought this up to trump in 2019, guess when trump started to "want" Greenland.

Peter Thiel is running on Curtis Yarvin playbook (aka Project 2025)

This guy was an internet weirdo until people like Thiel, Musk and other oligarchs took notice and are now putting it in motion.

They want to own it all.

They envision a North American entity from Panama to Greenland (sound familiar?) that's broken into corporate enclaves

Read up on Curtis Yarvin, he's a scary MF

Any day? I don't think so since the US political system doesn't work that way.  Reelection happens every four years in normal situations.  However these are not normal times with MAGA thugs running our country.

I think jingthing is thinking something may befall Mr trump, wouldent surprise me one bit he’s certainly angered many very very powerful people both at home and abroad .

To me JD Vance looks and sounds like Trumps personal reincarnation of Joseph Goebbels....

I think Stephen Miller has that one covered both visually and psychologically.

Since our current US leadership is as infallible as a Borgia Pontiff, I wondered about Greenland's security and how, according to the VP, it is at risk.

I looked at history. Since Leif Ericsson, I did not see Greenland was attacked by Genghis Khan, nor Tamerlane, nor Attila the Hun, nor Hannibal (maybe Lecter, but I'm told he's a "great guy"), nor the Saracens, nor Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin or even Martians or Klingons.

The only mention of military force to be used against Greenland in the last thousand years was made by the current US President, who said he would not rule out the use of military force to take what he wants, which is Greenland.

So, parsing all of that, the VP was telling the Greenlanders they needed him to protect Greenland from....him.

Isn't that how Mafioso shake down businesses for protection money?

Has any potus for usa ever threatened to use military force to take over another country?  Sure there was vietnam etc but far as i know we never ever talked about actually taking over and owning the country and make it part of usa much less openly stated that using the military is possible?

Not exactly a great way to win friends and influence people.

they lost more soldiers in relations to the population of Denmark than any other country except the US.

Which is not something to be proud of and it indicates that their tactics were likely not very good. Losing troops is not an indication that they are doing it right, and a country that calls it's troops "general issue" is not a military to emulate. In Vietnam because the Aussies and NZ troops did not use US tactics their death rate was very small in comparison.

The Greenlanders? I know, it's a radical idea but I really think it's up to them. Crazy thought, right?

Not that I care to learn much about a few thousand people living on the edge of the second largest ice cap on the planet, but are they capable of surviving without importing everything? If not, then it's not really up to them. Do they even have an independent economy? Do they grow any food themselves?

Didn't know who Stephen Miller is. Looked him up, and indeed, the likeness is uncanny.
