Chiang Mai is facing a severe air pollution crisis as wildfires continue to rage across its districts, with over 150 hotspots currently active. On April 1, thick smoke engulfed the northern province, notably affecting areas such as Hot, Chiang Dao, and Phrao with numerous fire flare-ups.

Major Fire Destroys Thawee Charoen Superstore in Chanthaburi

A devastating fire broke out late night on the 1 April, at the Thawee Charoen Superstore (Maharaj branch) in Chanthaburi province, completely engulfing the building in flames. Emergency services were alerted at around 23:30 prompting an immediate response from the Chanthaburi Municipality’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department. Firefighting units from nearby areas were also called in to assist.

Lorry Crash on Bangkok Expressway Leaves One Dead, Causes 10km Tailback

A collision between an 18-wheeler lorry and a 10-wheeler truck on the Kanchanaphisek Expressway early morning on 2 April, resulted in one fatality, one injury, and traffic congestion stretching over 10 kilometres. The crash occurred on the bridge crossing the Chao Phraya River in Phra Pradaeng, Samut Prakan, causing major disruption.

Fire Breaks Out in Engine Compartment of Pattaya-Suvarnabhumi Airport Bus

Emergency responders from the Motorway Rescue Unit, Department of Highways, were alerted to a fire on a Pattaya–Suvarnabhumi Airport passenger bus. The incident occurred on Motorway Route 7, outbound to Bangkok, near the Pong Toll Plaza at kilometre 118+300 in Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

Body of Man Found Floating in Nonthaburi River

Police in Nonthaburi are investigating the mysterious death of a man whose body was discovered floating in the river near the Ministry of Commerce pier. The deceased, who was dressed neatly, had no identification on him, and authorities are working to identify him.

Nine-Year-Old Child Killed by Explosive Device in Phichit Province

Authorities disclosed on 2 April, details of an earlier incident in Phichit Province that claimed the life of a nine-year-old child who inadvertently picked up an improvised explosive device (IED) while playing along a roadside in Nong Phra Subdistrict, Wang Sai Phun District. The device exploded upon being handled, resulting in the child’s death.

Volunteer Civil Defence Officer Critically Injured After Being Strangled by Python

A 68-year-old volunteer civil defence officer in Bangkok is in critical condition after being strangled by a four-metre-long python while attempting to capture it. The snake had entered a residential home and killed a pet cat before the officer tried to intervene.

Thailand’s Earthquake Damage: 34 Buildings Deemed Unsafe After National Checks

Pattaya: Biker Crashes, Then Beaten by Pickup Driver in Road Rage Attack

A young motorcyclist was left  injured after a collision with a pickup truck in Pattaya, at approximately 19:10 on 2 April. The incident, which occurred on Soi Khao Talo  in the Nong Prue area, took a violent turn when the driver of the pickup allegedly assaulted the injured teenager.

Australian Teen Dies in Koh Samui Motorbike Collision

An Australian teenager's dream holiday in Thailand has ended in heartbreak. Carlos Guirguis from Melbourne lost his life in a motorbike accident on Koh Samui. The 19-year-old reportedly tried overtaking a vehicle without a helmet and lost control.
