China hits back with 84% tarrifs on us

Who were the IDIOTS, then, who voted CommieChina into the WTO?

Anyone remember that?

All the idiots said:  Open up trade with China, and China will automatically become a democratic country.

Who were the nincompoops who believed that?

Maybe you are not old enough to clearly remember recognition by the USA of CommieChina.

There are so many false beliefs about China, floating around.

They do not know China.

THEY are the idiots.

We were all FOOLS (not I, of course), for not diversifying production, far more, and trusting The Commie Bandits in Beijing.

Deal with the Devil, and get burned....ALIVE.

=============

It's too late, now, to make decoupling from China easy.

We should never have gotten in this deep, from the beginning, back in the early 80s.

And, COKE thought it would be one of the first into that market.

FOOLS, all, because they lack understanding, completely.

We need to separate from China.

And, China will never cooperate with the USA or the West.

This should be obvious.

The USA in the long run has its own resources and ability to produce food. If things go really badly America will suffer and China will implode. The other thing is we can't leave it how it is. It's a matter of national security should we ever have to go to war with China. We needed to do something decades ago. Doesn't look like Trump is backing down so I guess we are going to find out.

An economic reset might actually be a good thing for young Americans who can't afford a house or anything else. A lot of boomer money is about to go up in smoke.

And when a country is about to go to war, the best way to prepare for it is to lower government revenue?

And the best way to recruit other nation to cooperate in decoupling from China is to alienate them by imposing tariffs on them. Genius!!!

I never said we were about to go to war. If we were going to actually go to war tomorrow all the rubles are thrown out.

Here's what you did say:

"It's a matter of national security should we ever have to go to war with China."

So on the one hand "The other thing is we can't leave it how it is." but on the other there's no rush?

But it faces tariffs on it's entire value no matter where the parts come from.

Correct, unless you track the components of a Ford as it crosses the US/Canada-US/Mexico border dozens of times.

Much of this isn't Chinese manufactured goods, but assembled/relabeled product from other countries.

Should we ever have to is different than what you suggested that we are actively plannning to go to war.My point is we can not go with the status quo forever. We should have taken corrective measures decades ago, the second best time to do that is today. Unless you are saying the USA can sit there and rely on China in the future to be our sole source of medicine for example.

LOL Yeah North Korea can make up the short fall. Listen to yourself.

Well, yeah, I listened to myself.  Did you listen to myself?

Now that Ukraine is winning and Russia is being pushed back, Putin is sorely in need of more drones and tanks and military gear, especially body bags.

And I'm sure the Iraniums would like some civilian airliners and some 6th generation jet fighters and more nukular tech.

That doesn't even get to all the other BRICS members and non-aligned nations that have been hit by "reciprocal" tariffs.

Other nations, even the vassal Europeans, will be less and less likely to submit to American demands to enforce unilateral sanctions.

So on the one hand you now claim that the best possible time (unless you have a time machine) is to do it today. So that preparation should begin with tax cuts?

I AGREE that this was not done in the proper sequence.

Should have boosted tariffs on China to 204%.

First.

CommieChina is our enemy, and will be in the hot war of the future.

We cannot continue to add to the economy of a country which is spending large on its military which, obviously, they intend to use against our interests.

Who knows now, though, how to stop trade with China.

But it must be done.

Navarro is a nutcase, though, I agree with you.

His book was so-so, but not original, and not that good.

Maybe he was not the one who actually wrote his book on China.

All true but it is FAR worse than that. The idiots then hamstrung themselves with woke bs and climate alarmism sending costs of production soaring while Chinese with their coal powered economy further undercut the west.

This tariff play is like cutting out a malignant tumor. Sure, knives are scary, and yep, it's gonna hurt. But continuing to rack up the defecit is terminal for the patient. Of couse, the Trump haters will freak out every time their media tells them too. Best ignored or mocked.

The US is heavily dependent on Canada for potassium fertilizer. It imports $10 billion worth of mixed fertilizers from Canada, and 50% of its oil.

The US has no developed rare earth capacity, to build advanced equipment. Mexico is the main US supplier of silver, which is found in every phone, laptop, desktop and TV on the planet. Anything electronic, it has silver.

The proposition the US is self-sufficient does not stand up in the light of said facts.

So now you don't support the Trump's tariff hikes just about virtually every country?

Okay but if it came down to it, the USA exports a ton of food. If we didn't do that we still feed ourselves. It could be a green organic renaissance.lol That's a lefties wet dream.

I never did.

I love tariffs on China.

But, I think I mentioned I would like to cut tariffs on the EU, UK, to zero.

Zero tariffs for all trading partners.

But, I am no Navarro-type economist from Harvard.

All factory work needs to be automated, to the highest degree possible.

Without fertilizer, yields of food are very much less.

Where are you getting the tractors from to plough the soil for cropping and seeding? Last time I looked, John Deere had closed down, and Kubota is your biggest supplier.

Now you've got rid of the immigrants, are Americans lining up to pick crops at minimum wage?

Reality is such a bitch, eh?

Time to dust off the 25th Amendment?

EDIT: I thought you meant a 104% increase. The 104% tariff is old news by now.

If it really came to it yeah people would use old methods to p[low the fields. There wouldn't be a choice now would there? We have a huge stock of agricultural equipment that will last for years. It would be like Cuba having loads of old cars.

Maybe implement a social program like mandatory euthanasia at age 60.

Now you have given observations about how it would be in the USA, can you explain what would happen in Canada?

Yes, USA consumers complaining about higher prices and will vote different. The Chinese government couldn't care less and will use it to market USA bullying. USA has no chance in hell to win this. Lets see what the USA will do with a lot less rare earth minerals.
