Trump has not made a final decision about whether to try to fire Powell before his term ends, a matter that would likely be challenged all the way to the Supreme Court.

Matters nothing to Trump. He doesn't comply with their rulings anyway. He has zero fear of that.

There must be better men to lead the Fed than this.

You looking to get the job? Why could someone else do a better job? You got reasons? Hunters laptop perhaps?

You realize the "inflation is just temporary" remarks were made during an untested global pandemic meltdown? Today's remarks are based on self inflicted tariffs?

Neither is he allowed to ban AP, neither is he allowed to deport certain people. He still does it, the courts forbid it but he ignores the courts.

And the courts have no power to enforce their rulings.

Aren't all those issue still in litigation? Trump's attorney general says they will follow the law, so when the matters are finally settled, I expect that's what they'll do. Follow the law.

Of course the courts have no power to enforce the rulings, but I don't see Trump ignoring the Supreme Court, yet.  Could it happen? Sure. It might also be a really stupid thing to do, because then Congress would have an excuse to step in and no one knows how that could go.  The margins are already close, and it could all end up badly for Trump.

No, no present litigation.

AP case has been settled, but administration is refusing to adhere. The guy in El Salvador will not be returned, despite a SC ruling.

Congress step in, how, do what? Arrest him? Trump is doing what he wants.

Can you post me to a settlement agreement on the AP case? From what I see, the case is ongoing and the potential for further litigation remains. I don't see a "settlement" anywhere.

As for the guy in prison in Guatemala?  The people holding hime there are acting in a way that suggests they have no intention of releasing him.  He faces charges outside the USA and that case is ongoing.  Keep in mind, Trump cannot simply step in and order his release.

In short, I think you're twisting the facts a bit.

Of course trump can get him released. I also don't see why you insert Guatamala here.

I'm not thinking, I guess.  As for the guy in El Salvador?  He's never coming home. The president of El Salvador has said as much. They won't release him. So, despite a US court order, he's probably there to stay, and I can't see Trump sending in the 82nd Airborne to break him out.

Powell, the financial genius who told us "Oh inflation is just a temporary phenomeneon, nothing to worry about, no biggie"..

\be better men to lead the Fed than this.

You got a quote to back that up. But you think that's bad? What about what Kevin Warsh who supposedly is set to replace Powell.

Throughout 2008 Warsh predicted that inflation would rise despite financial turbulence and economic weakness:

  • March 2008: "On the inflation front, there is little reason to be confident that inflation will decline. There are reasons to believe that our inflation problems will become more pronounced and, I fear, more persistent."[34]
  • June 2008: "Inflation risks, in my view, continue to predominate as the greater risk to the economy."[35]
  • September 2008: "I'm still not ready to relinquish my concerns on the inflation front."[36]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Warsh

If he had been in charge, the Great Recession would have become the Great Depression Part 2.

He also backed letting Lehman fail which opened the floodgates in 2008.
