I agree but I found that the confused one saved having to make a convoluted post in response.

The sad one was used too often for the wrong reasons and the heartbroken one is a perfect replacement.

I don't see the difference between I agree and Thumbs up!

Everything that you describe is indeed sad situations.

But then, everybody knows that it is a sad situation, so no need to to try to show that you, yes you, find it sad. IT IS SAD. Useless emoticons...  Move on..
