Utter nonsense. 2.6 per 100000 on Thailand 2024

13.7 per 100000 in USA 2024

Just that in Thailand, it reflects the doing of mainly Thai people. You know, those who Wai and utter the silly noise of Khap ad nauseam, to show that they are more polite than the rest of the world.

While in the US, we do not know any more what it reflects....

A 25-year-old man has been taken into custody and escorted by police to the scene of a fatal shooting to reenact the crime, amid claims he did not intend to kill the 17-year-old victim.

The suspect, known as “Spy”, was arrested under a warrant issued by Thanyaburi Provincial Court for intentional murder, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a firearm in public without permission, and discharging a firearm in a public place. He was apprehended along with Natthawut, or “Mos”, 29, who assisted him in evading the capture. Both were arrested at a petrol station in Nong Khao, Tha Muang District, Kanchanaburi. Province.

At approximately 10:30 on 26 April, Colonel Kanthaphon Wanna, Superintendent of Khu Khot Police Station, led officers in escorting Spy to the scene of the shooting in Lam Sam Kaew Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province.

During preliminary questioning, Spy claimed that he did not know the victim or her group personally. He explained that an exchange of glances occurred between the two groups at a barbecue restaurant, leading to tension. Spy allegations that derogatory remarks were made by the victim’s group, mentioning “Soi 92”, a reference to a local area. Feeling provoked, he admitted to firing three shots first, which was met with a single retaliatory shot from the other group.

Spy expressed remorse, stating: “I didn’t intend to harm anyone. I want to apologise to the victim’s family. I accept responsibility for what I have done.” He also clarified that the firearm used was a modified blank gun belonging to a friend.

Colonel Kanthaphon stated that the altercation appeared to have stemmed solely from mutual glances, with no prior acquaintance or existing conflict between the two groups. The incident, he said, reflected the impulsive emotions of youth rather than any deeper vendetta.

Following the reenactment, Spy was formally charged and immediately remanded into custody at Thanyaburi Provincial Court.

Investigations revealed that after the shooting on the evening of 20 April, the victim, identified as “Nong Tangmo”, aged 17, was taken to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. The shooting occurred within a residential alley in Lam Sam Kaew Subdistrict.

Police examined CCTV footage from the area, leading to the identification of the suspect. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued, and a 50,000 baht reward was offered for information leading to his capture. Spy was apprehended days later, along with Mos, who had assisted him in fleeing by motorcycle.

The weapon used has been sent to the Region 1 Forensic Science Center for further examination.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Using a gun, pointing it and shooting among people. After state it was unintentional. This guy just made the smartest excuse of the year.

Shoot with a gun to solve a problem and than it is unintentional to kill the victim. Maybe he could be a man and fight man to man with his fists for example..start talking and fight as man not shoot like a coward

This is the fate of millions of kids in Thailand.  I am speaking literally.

I have seen this play out like this many times. I lived in a small village before. This is textbook stuff. Almost nobody raises their own kids in the villages.

Think of all the hookers in Bangkok, Pattaya,  Phuket,  Samui etc. etc. Most of them are from places like Isaan.

Ask them about their family. They've got kids. They'll tell you the father did a Houdini.

But they probably won't tell you they haven't visited their kids in years or that the money they make just gets saved for themselves or gambled away, but in any case: the kids don't benefit at all, nor do they even know their mother.

I understand and agree with most of what you say, except for one thing.

I have never known a bar girl save ANY money for herself later in life, or for her kids future. Some gamble the money away themselves, some send money back to the family so as to look after their mother and their kids…..in which case the mother gambles the money away. But save? Nope, never known a Thai do such a thing

Spy seems to tell a different story:

Sounds like turf/gang affiliation leading to violence.  Not sure why the Officer wants to ignore this.  I guess it looks better on him to ignore the gang element and pretend that it was random.

A 17-year-old girl was fatally shot in the forehead following a brief and seemingly innocuous exchange of glances at a BBQ restaurant in Pathum Thani. Police have confirmed they have identified the suspect and are intensifying efforts to apprehend him.

The shooting occurred around 20:45 on 20 April in the Lam Luk Ka district. According to police reports, the victim, referred to as “Ae”, had gone to a mookata (Thai BBQ) restaurant in the Nana Charoen Market area with her boyfriend and three friends.

While dining, the group encountered a young man, approximately 20 years old, tall and thin, with shoulder-length hair and tattoos on both legs. Witnesses say he repeatedly stared at the group but no verbal altercation occurred inside the restaurant. Sensing tension, the group quickly paid their bill and left on motorcycles.

As they left the premises, the suspect allegedly followed them on a motorbike. When they reached a bend in the road near the Lam Sam Kaew subdistrict municipal office, the man opened fire, reportedly discharging three to four shots. One bullet struck Ae directly in the forehead, causing her to fall from the motorcycle. A short time later, the suspect returned to the scene to survey the aftermath before fleeing toward the restaurant once more.

A local resident, Mr. Chatree Sae-yin, 52, who heard what he initially thought was a motorbike crash, described the harrowing scene. “When I got there, I saw the girl lying motionless on the ground. Her friends circled back, and I learned she had been shot in the forehead. I immediately called the police,” he said. A passing motorist helped transport the victim to hospital, but she later succumbed to her injuries.

The victim’s mother, Ms. Jutarat Sumaporn, 36, said she was devastated by the loss. “My daughter went out with her boyfriend and friends to eat. Apparently, there was a group of teens staring at them. Her boyfriend felt something was off, so they left. I was told that the gunman followed them and shot her as she turned to look.”

Police Colonel Kantapon Wanna, Superintendent of Khu Khot Police Station, confirmed that investigators have identified the gunman. CCTV footage is being reviewed from the restaurant, the shooting location, and along escape routes to determine if any accomplices were involved.

The victim’s body has been transferred to Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital’s forensic institute for post-mortem examination. Police have vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice swiftly.
