A shocking scandal has erupted in Hat Yai following the revelation of a series of nude photos taken at sacred sites across the city. Shared on the popular social media platform X, these explicit images have caused significant outrage among the local community, prompting swift action from authorities.

The group behind the scandal, known as OutdoorHDY, staged daring photoshoots in several public locations within the Hat Yai Municipality, Songkhla province. Among these were the revered Phra Phuttha Mongkhon Maharat Buddha statue at the Khao Kho Hong viewpoint, a site of profound spiritual significance to residents. The photos have drawn severe criticism for their disrespectful nature, as the statue is an iconic symbol of the area and deeply revered by locals.

In addition to the Buddha statue, the indiscretions spread across three separate locations: a clothing store behind Greenway Market on Soi 3/1, Sriphuwanak; Chonthara Park near Saengthong Christian Church on Thamanunwithi Road; and Hat Yai City Viewpoint, also on Khao Kho Hong. At these sites, the men stripped nude, capturing their controversial antics to proudly post online.

The backlash from residents was swift and severe, with many condemning OutdoorHDY's actions as a direct violation of public decency and an affront to their cultural values. The incident has sparked widespread anger and calls for accountability.

In response, Kohong police have launched a robust investigation. Police Colonel Aphichat Suwannako, Superintendent of the Kohong Police Station, confirmed ongoing efforts to identify the culprits. “We have reviewed the CCTV footage from the affected areas and are working to identify those involved,” Pol. Col. Aphichat stated, reassuring the community that measures are in place to track down those responsible.

While the specifics of potential charges are still under consideration, authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued in accordance with the law. As the investigation unfolds, locals remain eager to see the outcome and what measures will be taken to prevent such disrespectful acts in the future.

This incident not only highlights the clash between modern social media antics and traditional values but also underscores the need for respect and sensitivity towards cultural symbols and public decency. As Hat Yai awaits the legal repercussions, this scandal remains a poignant reminder of the importance of respecting sacred spaces.

I can see it was the gay gang out in town.

This is just a bare faced social media stunt. Nothing to see here. Next.

Thanks to god... only locals involved...

Or else the outrage would have go on and on... targeting certain countries, blame visa free policy, poor quality tourists and so on...

We all expect cultural respect from tourists / visitors to our various countries.Obviously this ethos needs to extend to when we are guests in Thailand. It’s not a hard concept to grasp really.

I don't get it.  Completely inappropriate and disgusting.  Why would someone do this?  Would they do this in a church, synagogue, or mosque?

  • Popular Post

Why assume that it was foreigners? There's no mention in the story of the nationality of the members (sic) of the Outdoor HDY group.

Probably not.

Western racism & condescension at work.

Or an empty Senate chamber?  Oh, wait...

Shocking stunt, through the book at them.

The other very strange thing, no mention of nationality, seems light skinned, but with no nationality, I suspect Thais. But then Thais do not wrong  555

Not unless it's been scanned....

Maybe fewer complaints if it had've been women rather than men?  First time I've seen no calls for the unpixelated photos.  Just to be clear, I am NOT calling for that...

Joking aside, this is a crap publicity stunt, showcasing the worst of social media.

When I first saw the headlines I though it would be nude women, in that case there should be nothing to worry about. But what normal person is going to be interested in nude men?

Now if it was a sexy nude girl, I wonder how much outrage would be displayed on this forum. Very little I bet, other than the pixled photo of the nude girl which would not  allow us wise ones to make an objective opinioin. Just saying for a friend.

I'm outraged that it's blokes not babes.

Fully agree.

In Switzerland, they have banned nude hiking. Obviously it is no fun for a family with small children, when they meet nudists during their hike.

Why don`t they just choose some special nudist vacations instead of creating trouble? Because these folks are very arrogant people.

Shame on this guy. I guess his first name is Dick😂

It will be embarassing if it's found to be an upstanding member of the community.
