We have always held hands throughout our marriage. As we've gotten older, although still a sign of endearment for each other, it has also become a method of joint stability, literally! We won't consume the walkways, and break apart when needed, but we're together most any other time. People will just have to sneer at us!

You need to learn the phrase:  BREAD and BUTTER,

And, you need to repeat it as needed.

PDA = Public Display of Affection

All the rage now in the UK

Especially in the tabloids & orange tops.

If true, then what, do you suppose, might be the cause (causes)...???

Holding hands in public is okay anywhere. That some object to it means nothing. Thai's are doing it more and more as the years go by, the young crowd preferring to think for themselves instead of going by old school prudish behavior. It isn't inappropriate. The same with a quick greeting and goodbye kiss, as long as you aren't going overboard. A lot of women I see here, including my girlfriend, will grab their man's arm while walking, so it's not just men who initiate it. More and more Thais are adopting western customs, and this one isn't a problem.

Not normal outside tourist areas, but the younger generations start doing it more and more.
