This is not a Thai thing.  Romance is dead in all cultures now.  You are just an ATM.

Oh boy, there's a lot of BS on these pages. Of course you can touch but it depends where. My Thai wife is Thai and we are both in our 60's and we ALWAYS hold hands when in public, crossing the road or just shopping. This is not because I'm a whitey but because she initiates it. It's quite normal for Thais in a relationship to hold hands. Also, her adult children who are 100% Thai and in their late thirties also hold hands. So do many Thais of all ages. Kissing and hugging in public is socially not acceptable but not illegal. Revealing certain body parts or making suggestive movements is also frowned upon. I've never been one to be overly emotional in public. Same with my wife. Use common sense and control your geil until you have privacy.

I remember eating Pho at a Vietnamese restaurant in Reseda CA once and a nice Asian family was eating next to me and didn't talk during the meal.

In many Asian cultures, people who express private emotions in public are viewed as weak or stupid people.

Face is 99% of everything.

How you feel is 1%, relatively unimportant.

Back then, taxis had no meters, you had to negotiate. My now-wife insisted on taxis with blacked-out windows. For my first visit, her parents put newspapers over the front windows so neighbours wouldn't think her daughter was a prostitute!

No boob or ass-grabbing even today. NO kissing in public! But everybody likes nookie! Even in school dorms these days, teenage couples are cohabiting. No wonder Thailand has the second highest teen pregnancy in the world, after the US.

He had a special effect that was "trippy" it was some psychedelic echo sound that spun around the sound system speakers in a 360° circle. It was at the sound board level, you could hear it during the silence between the songs.
