Fetterman Rejects Diplomacy, Urges Trump Administration to Strike Iran’s Nuclear Sites

Senator John Fetterman has made an unambiguous call for the Trump administration to abandon nuclear negotiations with Iran and instead launch a direct military strike on the country’s nuclear facilities. The Pennsylvania Democrat said, “Waste that s–t,” expressing his frustration with ongoing talks and his belief that military action is the only viable course.

The Trump administration is currently preparing for a third round of negotiations with Iranian officials, aimed at dismantling Tehran’s nuclear program and averting a possible military conflict. Fetterman, however, dismissed the effort, stating, “You’re never going to be able to negotiate with that kind of regime that has been destabilizing the region for decades already, and now we have an incredible window, I believe, to do that, to strike and destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities.”

Fetterman also disregarded warnings from foreign policy analysts, many of whom caution that a military strike could trigger widespread instability or even a regional war. “So-called experts” have been wrong before, he argued, citing past concerns about the capabilities of Iran’s proxy groups.

“You know, they’ve been saying for years and years Hezbollah was the ultimate badass that kept Israel in check, and we can’t move on anything beyond that,” Fetterman said. He added that in his view, these groups were overrated militarily. “And Hamas, literally, are just a bunch of tunnel rats with junkie rockets in the back of a Toyota truck. And now the Houthis have been effectively neutered as well. So what’s left? You have Iran, and they have a nuclear facility, and it’s clearly only for weapons.”

The senator’s remarks come as Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff is trying to craft a diplomatic framework with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The two sides are expected to meet Saturday in Oman—a country maintaining friendly ties with both the U.S. and Iran—following a week of indirect discussions that were reportedly cordial and productive.

Despite some optimism from both American and Iranian officials about the potential for peaceful resolution, Fetterman remains adamant that negotiations are not the answer. “Years ago, I completely understood why Trump withdrew from the Obama deal,” he said. “Today, I can’t understand why Trump would negotiate with this diseased regime. The negotiations should be comprised of 30,000-pound bombs and the IDF.”

Meanwhile, Israel is said to be considering its own limited military strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, which could require less involvement from the United States if carried out. While Trump officials continue to favor diplomacy, Fetterman’s comments highlight the growing divide among U.S. policymakers over how to confront Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

 Iran can’t have a nuke

Who says that they can't have nuclear weapons, and why?

Israel supposedly has at least 90 nuclear weapons and they have already invaded Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Iran within the last 2 years.

How many countries has Iran invaded.

There was a treaty, signed, sealed and working, but Trump 1 tore it up.

Fetterman has mental health problems. He shouldn't even be allowed to be in public office.

Fetterman was criticized for an incident in North Braddock in January 2013 when he heard a sound he thought was gunfire and followed an unarmed jogger, whom he detained with a shotgun.[43] The jogger, Chris Miyares, a Black American, said that what Fetterman thought were gunshots were kids shooting bottle rockets.

In 2021, Miyares wrote that Fetterman had "lied about everything" that happened during the incident, but that he had "done far more good than that one bad act" and "should not be defined by it", and that he hoped Fetterman would win the Senate race.

I’d prefer they do not get them via diplomacy but time is running out and as Trump said. The bombs will be coming if negotiations fail.

Good point.  Trump will need a distraction from his "Make America God Awful" again domestic policies.

Iran is designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, that's why. :saai: along with its "Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)" who are a designated terrorist group.

It supports Hezbollah, the Houthis, Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza, and various terrorist and militant groups in Iraq, Syria, Bahrain, and elsewhere throughout the Middle East.

Otherwise known as the head of the snake. Even Russia is against them getting nuclear weapons. What's wrong with you?

Sad that the Western powers colluded in the deaths of Saddam Hussein of Iraq and Muammar Gadhafi of Libya, both of whom were committed to overthrowing the regime in Iran.

Poor try at a diversion.

The question I asked was how many countries has Iran invaded?

Trump needs a distraction at this point, and he is flailing badly. Things are going badly for him and he thinks that this might provide the answer, however it could lead to a prolonged war, increased terrorism, and this is the man who promised we wouldn't get into another war. Right?

And let us not forget that he was the one who dismantled the existing treaty to begin with during his first term, the man is an utter failure.

What  was factually incorrect about his statement? The wikipedia  entry shows him to be a progressive and community focused politician. If the intent was to disparage the man, then you failed.

Common sense says that Iran should not have  nuclear weapons. The culture of the rulers and much of its Shiite followers is that it is  better to die than to live. This is the  culture which gives us suicide bombers and which just the other day enabled Pakistani muslim militants to massacre 20+ Hindus in Kashmir of which many were children. You ignore the fact that they teach their children to believe that  martyrdom death is better than living.

Israel has demonstrated that it does not attack  nations that ae at peace with it.  You can criticize Israel  for Gaza, but the reality is that if it had wanted to it could have wiped the place out in a few days, much as what Iran did to some Syrian cities, without any concern for non combatant casualties.

Iran has invaded and murdered through direct sponsorship of militants and terrorist attacks. Your gymnastics of justification as you ignore Iran's responsibility  for multiple wars  is fantastic.;

Syria: 600,000 dead, 14 million refugees.

Kurdistan and associated Kurdish enclaves: Ongoing attempt at  ethnic cleansing of Kurds, thousands dead.

Sudan: 100,000+ dead, 5 million+ refugees. Iran is a sponsor and supplier of weapons to the SAF which is mass murdering black Sudanese.

Yemen: Intervention by IRGC and sponsorship of Houthis, 150,000+ dead in ongoing war, 250,000+ in  war induced famined, 4 million+ refugees

Iraq: Ongoing active involvement of disruption of iraq civil government

Gaza; Ongoing supply of weapons and sponsorship of Hamas

The ignorance rests with you. These are the militant groups that are funded and supplied by Iran. They act on behalf of Iran and are located in  countries where Iran seeks to disrupt and exert control;

Lebanon:  A state within a state that undermines the elected Lebanese government- Hezbollah (Party of God),  Hezbollah ( Party of God Brigades)

Lebanon, Israel, West Bank and Gaza: Palestinian Islamic Jihad (Harakat al Jihad al Islami al Filistin), Hamas

Iraq:  Undermining and attacking the elected Iraqi government; Asaib Ahl al Haq ( League of the Righteous), Badr Organization.

Syria: Harakat Hezbollah al Nujaba (Movement of the Party of God’s Nobles),  Kataib Sayyad al Shuhada ( Masters of the Martyrs Brigade),  Zaynabiyoun Brigade

Yemen: Ansar Allah (aka Houthis)

With slogans like “Death to America, Death to Israel, Cursed be the Jews, Victory to Islam,” it should come as no surprise that Iran is

Pakistan and Syria:

Afghanistan:  Fatemiyoun Division

Bahrain: Saraya al Ashtar , as a  sponsored unit of Iranian Guards,    Saraya al Mukhtar

none of the above are organizations focused on building  a civil society.

Trump is opposed to any action against Iran at this time. He is the one  opposing direct action. Give them credit for that.

The guy is actually trying to  stay out of wars. We may not like his strategy or methodology, but that is his core position. He is an isolationist. If there is a trike against Iran, it will be by Israel and it will come with a tradeoff that Israel must unilaterally end the Gaza war once Iran is no longer funding terrorism in Gaza.
