Report Pakistani Conman Arrested in Thailand After Decade-Long Identity Scam

In a remarkable case of identity fraud, a 41-year-old Pakistani man known as Zeshan has been apprehended in Bangkok after living in Thailand for over ten years using the stolen identity of a deceased Thai national. The arrest was executed by officers from Thailand’s Crime Suppression Division on April 24, following a warrant issued by the Criminal Court.

 

Zeshan's scheme involved assuming the identity of a long-dead Thai man, whose death had never been reported by his family. Exploiting this oversight, Zeshan successfully obtained a Thai ID card and used it to acquire a seemingly legitimate Thai passport. This passport enabled him to travel internationally over 100 times under the guise of a Thai citizen, enjoying the associated privileges.

 

The conman’s charges include using a false Thai ID, document forgery, deception of officials, unlawfully entering the population register, and passport fraud, all conducted without being a Thai national. The operation to arrest him was led by Police Colonel Witthaya Sriprasertphap, along with Pol. Col. Manoon Kaewkam and Pol. Lt. Col. Dechawut Utharasat.

 

 

 

Zeshan's scam was uncovered when investigators identified discrepancies in the identity records of the deceased Thai man. Despite being confronted with substantial evidence, Zeshan denied all allegations during police questioning. Nevertheless, the evidence was compelling enough to result in his arrest and transfer to the Crime Suppression Division for further investigation.

 

Authorities are now delving deeper into the network that facilitated the forged documents, investigating potential involvement of officials or other accomplices in the deceit.

 

Describing the audacity of the crime, one police officer remarked, “He’s been living someone else’s life for over a decade, now it’s time to face reality.” As the investigation continues, Thai authorities aim to dismantle the broader network behind this elaborate fraud, ensuring that this remarkable breach of identity is thoroughly addressed.

Thailand was populated by Indians and people from western part of India in amcie t times. Even the Thai royalty were closely associated with Indian culture with the royal priests being Brahmins from Hinduism so there are many Thai citizens with Indian roots. Pakistan was part of Indian then. There are rich Thai Indian landowners along sukhumvit road from many years past.

Thailand has so many different kinds of faces and colors among them.

Malays, Chinese, (pale and dark) Indians...

So pretty easy to blend into Thai society if he got Thai ID and fluency in their language.
