There are gnostic atheists who do claim that, but they can't support their claims.  At best they can disprove specific gods.

Most are agnostic atheists who do not believe due to lack of sufficient evidence, but not ruling out the possibility.

Atheists are trying to claim a negative - the non-existence of something.

As i said above - agnostics just don't care!

Then you are not solely agnostic.

You're an agnostic something, with agnostic being an adjective.

Agnostic means you may doubt, you may be skeptical, you may believe it is not possible to know a thing.

That does not imply you don't care or it doesn't matter.

No!  That's atheists - so sceptical because there is no clear proof of religious beliefs. BUT, they want to prove their negative beliefs and persuade others to join them.

Agnostics just think it (religion) is all nonsense and not worth worrying about.

Off the top of my head:

Thou shall worship Science
Thou shall belittle those who challenge Science

Thou shall consider mankind to exist only within the visible and physical realms of mortal existence

Pretty close but challenging science is science. The moment a paper is published, everyone tries to tear it apart. There is no "trust me" in science.

It is the religions that are making claims. Claims ae fine, present your evidence and repeatable experiment.

If only this were true…

And your point is?

Do I really have to explain myself to you?

Do you follow now?

It makes more sense than merely naming three books.

This may help your grades;

Known as the Tripitaka, the sacred texts of Buddhism are broken down into three sections known as baskets. Referred to in the West as the Three Baskets, the Tripitaka includes the Vinaya Pitaka, the Sutta Pitaka, and the Abhidhamma Pitaka.

My point is that in this country, if you start talking about these concepts, people will look at you and wonder from what planet you are coming from.

And I repeat myself, I did not find any Buddhism here...

Not sure if you're challenging me or making a point?

Clearly, being agnostic, I have neither because I haven't wasted my time because agnostics don't actually care!

Having done a little searching, I find https://www.dictionary.com/e/atheism-agnosticism/ in which it says that atheists don't believe and agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve. In my case they don't really care!

You said that you couldn't find anything in writing. If you believe that there is no Buddhism here then you are looking in the wrong places. Apart from that I was trying to help you with your obvious lack of resorces for your study so just carry on and leave me out of it now, thank you.

Not challenging you other that to state that atheists claim god does  not exist. That is shorthand, but really the claim is that no evidence for god exists. Bring evidence and we can talk about it. Without evidence you have nothing and can shut up. Agnostics are just ignored as wishy-washy.

Ah thank you - agree about atheism......

Best wishes from Mr W. Washy  😂

(Who still doesn't care 😅)

My mom, rest her soul, was a Catholic.

She had lost her first daughter at a young age. Traumatized her for life.

She needed something to believe in.

And she maybe wasn't intellectual enough to search for any alternatives.

But even people who are intellectual and curious-minded enough to seek out alternatives to Catholicism, where does that usually lead them? To some other questionable belief system? To atheism? Belief in nothing?

I didn't watch the OP. I bet he's an atheist. Atheists love to knock religions, but they got nothing better.

For some people, it served a purpose and they didn't harm anyone while following this religion.

I was highly critical of Catholicism growing up, but then realized that some people need it and it serves a purpose.

Unfortunately, you don't even know what an Atheist is. Why don't you look it up?  It means ONLY not believing in a deity. That is it;  it doesn't mean believing in nothing or anything else in particular. What it probably means is that reality doesn't pass us by!

I wasn't really addressing the definition of atheism, but rather the atheists' own propensity to adhere to dogma, which I think is part of the human condition.

There is no atheist dogma.

Theists make claims about god(s), massive claims, without sufficient evidence, or really any evidence.

I don't believe the claims.

That is not dogma.

As long as you're deciding for yourself what "atheism" means, and what "agnostic" means, then you'll always win the argument.

That was easy!

And there you have it 👍

For me it's all academic anyway because religion or lack of is for other people - I'm agnostic on the matter. 😃

As I've written several times, I really don't care and in fact perhaps we should all simply form our own views and just do what feel is right. As I also said earlier, as long as we're not harming others.
