Local mailing addresses when there isn't space for the full thing

OK, here's a fun one.

Filling out a form indicating Thai mailing address where something will be mailed within Thailand.

The goal is not so much to be pedantically correct but to put it down in the way least likely to throw off postal workers. Again as there isn't room to actually put it in correctly.

Space for "city"

No space for subdistrict

No space for province

So my example is in Jomtien.
Full address

Nongprue Banglamung Chonburi

But since only space for city, not sure what to put.

The closest thing is actually Nongprue as Banglamung is a subdistrict but Nongprue isn't a city as it's more like a town.

It seems to me a town is more like a city than a subdistrict but not sure.

The greater city is Pattaya with Jomtien as suburb.

Not sure what to put.

It seems Banglamung is wrong so the choices seem to be:

Nongrue (no space to add Banglamung)

Pattaya (that is the city)

or maybe

Jomtien

or

Jomtien Pattaya

or

Pattaya Jomtien

or even

Banglamung (the subdistrict)

I never use Pattaya, Jomtien, etc., in the address.   With my current address, it's house number, Moo number, street name, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi 20150.  Mail and packages have been arriving fine.  Sometimes you need to get a little creative with where you put N, B, C--I might put Nongprue and Banglamung both in 'city', for example, to get all 3 in.

Yeah I get that entirely and that's what I normally do as well.

I did have room to put the Moo number in the street address.

But perhaps you're not getting the problem.

I need to put SOMETHING in the CITY field and there is no room for Nongprue Banglamung, there is no field for province, but there is a field for zip code.

I will say having similar issues in the past I have just put in Jomtien as the city and things seemed to arrive though (from abroad) though in those cases could put in the province. Jomtien is not what you would normally put in an address in Jomtien.

I'm leaning towards Jomtien as it has worked in the past.

I'm concerned if I put only Nongprue OR Banglamung (no space for both) that would be more likely to throw off the post office.

That's strange there is no field for province.  I've found the post office is pretty good--I've had some mangled addressed mail arrive.  If Jomtien worked in the past it likely will again, with the street address and the postal code.  Good luck.

That's a bit odd, after all what would you do if you lived in Nakhon Ratchasima or other Thai towns and cities with long names?

Anyway, as far as I understand it, the post code already tells them that you're in Banglamung:

https://postal-codes.cybo.com/thailand/20150_bang-lamung/

so a postal address like this should work fine:

123/456 Moo 7

Pattaya or Nongprue

20150

where 'Pattaya' or 'Nongprue' is the city, up to you, the postman should know both. I assume that, within the Nongprue tambon, there can only be one 123/456 Moo 7. That ought to be enough for the post office, though definitely not for the delivery people. I have the same problem with a hotel booking website I use, they insist on a city, there are no boxes for tambon and amphur, so I just put Pattaya and it seems to work.

Vice versa.

Banglamung is the district where ALL of that special administration area "Pattaya" is included.

Nongprue is a subdistrict of Banglamung.

Address of "Jomtien" immigration from the website:

75/265 Moo 12 Nongprue Banglamung Chonburi 20150

Address of the "Jomtien" revenue office from the website:

404 หมู่ที่ 12 ต.หนองปรือ อ.บางละมุง จ.ชลบุรี 20150

(404 Moo 12 T. Nongprue A. Banglamung C. Chonburi 20150)

(T)ambon, (A)mphoe, (C)hangwat.

All addresses should end like the bold text.

Central Festival from the website:

333/99 หมู่ที่ 9 ตำบลหนองปรือ อำเภอบางละมุง จังหวัดชลบุรี 20260

(333/99 Moo 9 Tambon Nongprue Amphoe Banglamung Changwat Chonburi 20260)

I would cut it to:

333/99 Moo 9,  T. Nongprue, A. Banglamung,  Chonburi 20260

Moo 9 covers all of central Pattaya from my observation.

No.

Banglamung is a subdistrict of Chonburi province.

Nongprue is not a subdistrict.

I know the correct address is Nongprue Banglamung but can't put both.

You're right that Pattaya is a special category city. That's an argument for putting Pattaya.

I could put Jomtien Pattaya.

Maybe I have problems to read your posts.

Nonsense.

Please try to understand the administrative divisions.

Province -> District > Subdistrict       (Changwat, Amphoe, Tambon)

Chonburi -> Banglamung > Nongprue

I noticed I get letters delivered normally from my UK bank even though the condo building name was not there.

It seems the building no.(eg 408 ) is important .It is also in your passport .
