I have to say that I'm finding the amount of hassle involved for those of us who, like myself, aren't whizzo IT geeks in order to be able to watch the games subscribed to - not to mention the additional expense involved if, as in my case, we don't already possess the necessary kit beyond a smartphone - extremely off-putting in signing up for these deals.

I also have my doubts as to whether we're likely to get anything like the comprehensive service provided by True for 199/299 THB pcm or 1,999/2,999 THB pa. As the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

I was paying 2,700-something for True per month. For internet and the Platinum Package. I got shocking service, especially when the internet went downhill and I asked to cancel it - "Cannot, as it is a package with the TV". Finally cancelled it all now but they didn't make it easy.

I have been an AIS customer for maybe 25 years, always got good service. Not sure why you are emailing them - call them, they speak English!

As AIS are not making the coverage themselves, they are taking a feed from Sky or the other broadcasters, so it will be exactly the same. I don't care if we don't get the match build up or the English half time punditry - we didn't get that with True either.

The only other thing I will miss from True is the F1, but a year's subscription on Bein for F1 is 1,199. So I will be getting a year of all premier league, FA Cup, and F1 for the price of one 1.5 months' of True.

I was paying 1,990 baht for1 year (10 months Aug-May actually) for Premier League, La Liga, FA Cup and European matches with True, so it will be a bit more expensive for me.

I knew this day would come where the PL coverage went over to a streaming service. True put on a really good job IMO and hopefully this new crowd will be just as good, but I have my doubts.

Not bothered about pricing as it's not expensive, particularly when compared to SKY and TNT sports in the UK.

What I have managed to find out is that English commentary will be an option (thank god) and there will be repeats and highlights shows, so maybe it will be the same as True channel 602 was with the English coverage, but maybe it will be Channel 600 that had the Thai pundits, or something totally different?

My plan is to download the Monomax app onto my Samsung smart TV, subscribe and watch from there, I think that is fine?

Since you can only use one device per subscription the days of watching any games in bed are over, as I won't be carrying my TV upstairs or paying twice!

Look forward to any thoughts.

Searching for the Monomax app on my Samsung Smart Tv, did not find that there app. The TV came with lots of Apps so not sure if I am searching the internet or only the TVs pre stored apps. I think the latter.

Later TV models might be different. A techy person might know if it is possible to load the App.  I just poke n hope,  when it comes to tech.

There is no google search function on my internet/smart TV.... that would have helped ! to find the app.

So you may need a box if you cant load the App on your TV either.  The Monomax stick seems cheap and funky (?) and available on Lazada. But a normal Android box probably makes more financial sense.  Dunno.

On an Android Box I could google, find and load the App.  So I am logged in. And ready for the season to start !

I not sure why I was having problems before,  logging in.

I am also able to log in on my tablet. I find I can be logged in on both the Android box app and my tablet at the same time. I did not think that was possible.

Not much use ! but handy to know if accidently leaving it logged on one, it wont muck up the other.

There is nothing of interest on Monomax, till the footy starts .. unless you like movies in Thai, Japaneese or Chineese.  Picture quality is good.

The world soccer club championship is being shown but only live. No repeats at sensible times.

Some quirks .. on the App, I cannot log out.   Have to turn my box off.

When logging in next time, it asks me to log in again. PW etc. But I found pressing ignore ( I think it said ) just lets you in, so remembers you from before.

Thanks, a fair bit of info there. I say I 'plan' to watch on the app via my tv as I need to buy a new tv first, my one is too old to support the app even if I did find it (I haven't even bothered to look) I don't mind buying a new tv as I was thinking about it anyway and they have really come down in price. I went to a store today saw a 55 inch Samsung I liked and asked if the Monomax app was available on it, which it was.  I'll bear in mind the Monomax stick from Lazada, I won't get an Android box, just don't like the things. Good to hear that the picture quality is good.

So I should be set either way by mid-August, but do I think this service will be as good as True's PL coverage? No. But then again this has cost them approx Bt20 billion so it's very much in their interest to make this spot on.

Just on a tandem, I wonder what the bars will do? Probably just stream from dooball or some other site.

With True, you had to watch a repeat of a particular match at a set time, they pick.

BEIN, DAZN and NRL and others allow you to stream a re run at any time at your convenence.

So I am hoping that is the case with Monomax.  But hey ho ... 😏

True, but wouldn't want to speculate. I did like the 30 mins highlights that True showed over the last 2 seasons. I'm not even fussed with punditry, it's all waffle anyway, as long as the games have English comms, which I'm informed they will have.

You need to be an IT geek to download an app from the Google Playstore? I'm surprised you manage to post on an online forum.

There's rather more involved than downloading an app from the Google Playstore, I think, as previous posters have pointed out.

You could have bought a Maxplay stick for about a grand instead of going 24 large, but don't get me wrong I'm no experts in these matters and still have nightmares about CTH, I still have their dish glued to the side of the house too 🙂

Thanks for the info on packages.  Just from a quick look, it seems you won't be able to watch matches on a PC, that means straining my eyes to watch the matches on my phone

Can you can "cast" it to a TV maybe a little easier.

Snap!

I remember they offered a discount if you paid for a year up front, so I did. After the year was up the service just continued and they never sent me another bill. No wonder they went bust.

Ha ha, so not only me then. How incompetent must you have to be as a company to not send bills to your customers? It's the most fundamental thing to do. Especially considering they paid $320m US for three years!

Yep. I had forgot about it until I read your post.

I hope these cowboys don't <deleted> it up, having me football is what keeps me sane living here. my biggest fear is only Thai comms, but in reality English comms really shouldn't be a problem at all.

That was probably me, they told me it will be dual language but let's see. Someone said they watched a club world cup game this week and it was Thai only. But yea should be OK and they still have 6 weeks to get all in order.

Most FIFA games don't have English commentary on IPTV services also

Yes I get that, just thought I'd mention it. Logically they have to have English language as it's a UK 'product' and this new crowd would lose a lot of business from us (s)expats if they didn't have it.

As long as the English comms isn't women commentary. Like fingers being scraped down a blackboard. I'd rather listen to the Thai's screaming "SUUPPERRRR SAAAAAAAVVVVE"

The AIS deal is great, signed up yesterday.

Well I suppose that's a different subject, but yea.

You say AIS deal is great, you also mean Monomax, same thing right? I know AIS customers get it cheaper.
