I got my retirement extension and re-entry permit stamps at Surat Thani-Koh Samui office this year but I'm now living in BKK.  I'm getting a new passport and need to get the stamps transferred into it.  Two questions:  Any problem doing this at CW although the stamps were done in ST?  Second, if it's ok at CW, is there a way to make an appointment online?  I know the site (below) but I don't see any relevant menu item for making this kind of appointment (although they do have Cert of Residence, 90 day report, etc. etc.).

Stamps should be transferred at immigration office where they were issued.

There is no appointment for transfer of stamps at CW.

Here is form for stamp transfer to new passport.

At bottom is listed required docs.

Note: Not listed is CW new requirement to provide photocopies of bank book back to last extension+ updated bb for those on extensions such as retirement.

Hi,

You'd have to get your stamp to be transferred from your old passport

to your old passport at Surat Thani-Koh Samui office where you got the

stamp.

I have a friend who was going to do his 90-day report at CW but was

told to do it at the office where he had extended his Non-B visa.

Hope that helps.

I thought you have to do your 90-day report at the office in the province you currently live.  So what would happen if you moved between getting your visa stamp and filing your 90 day?  That's my situation, I was living in Samui when I got my visa extension, now moved to BKK.  For both my next 90 day (if I do it in person) and transferring my stamps, shouldn't I do it at CW?

Thanks for the link.  Do you know how strict they are about which office?  It's a pain for me to have to go back to Samui and since I don't live there anymore I'm not going to be able to give them a TM30 for there, if that's what item 8 "Copy of TM card" means (although I suspect it might mean TM6 which they're reintroducing).  Also, do you know what item 2 "Certificate from Embassy (if available)" means?

CW may transfer stamps. However generally it's done where the stamps were issued.

TM6 not required rather TM30 required.

The "certificate from embassy" is short statement that was provided along with the new pp.

Basically directing Thai immigration to transfer stamps.

Some embassies no longer provide that. Skip it.

Rayong Immigration refused to transfer my son's stamps, even though we live there and do our 90-day/TM30 reports there, as his Extension was issued in CW.  We had to go there to do it.  A right pain!

It is a pain and imo a flaw in the bureaucracy of stamp transfer.

I need to travel with both pp as my reentry permit was issued at DMK and CW immigration won't touch it.

Definitely a flaw.  I wonder if it's better in my case to just travel with both passports until my current extension expires.  Then I'll get the next extension in my new passport and shelve the old one.   Does that work or, when I apply for my next extension, would they make me first transfer the expired one?  Doesn't make much sense but ...

That won't work. They would want stamp transfer done prior to next extension.

It's not just stamps that are transferred. It's also reference/info of your visa that's transferred.

Thanks, I was afraid of that.  But I may have a route here.  I have applied for the LTR visa and with luck will get it within the next month or so.  If so, no more annual extensions.   If I get it, I wonder if the BOI will insist on the transfer of my current extension and visa info before putting in the LTR stamp ... any idea?  Hopefully not, but this may be kind of new territory.

I'm pretty hopeless on LTR.

Several guys have posted how helpful BOI have been re inquires etc.

Even via email.

Someone with a LTR may advise.

Do you HAVE to transfer stamps to a new passport? Is it required by some sort of law/regulation? Couldn't you just carry two passports until your next ext stay?

Is it required to file a TM27 TM28 or TM30 when relocating one's permanent address?

Filing a 90-Day report with an address that is no longer valid seems like it might not be totally legal?

When you get a new visa, passport history becomes irrelevant.

I renewed my passport in the UK and came back on a new visa. When I went for extension all that was in my passport was a single entry stamp and a 9 year old TM30, visa info was separate. I had the old passport with me but it was never mentioned, but based on what was said at the application they were quite aware of my history.

I would suggest you ignore the transfer and just go for the new visa when available.

Yes, you should do both at the immigration office where you made your last 1-year visa extension.

Good luck!

No need to transfer the stamp. Just carry old & new p.port. They eventually transferred the stampit for me at Suvarnabhumi when I flew out.

Good idea.  Did it take a long time for them to transfer?  Was it the person at the immigration queue or did you have to go to a special office?

I actually did get my 'visa-exemption' stamp to be transferred

from my old passport to my new passport when I flew out of

DMK a few months ago, which process didn't even take me 1

minute. I don't know if they could do a 1-year visa extension

at the airport, to be honest. I do hope so, though.

I agree with all the advice about transfer of Immo stamps for extension of stay from old to new passport.

But, just a historical note about where to file the 90-day address reports (since it came up in a few of the posts):

During 2008-2011, I lived in Phuket, but did my annual extensions (retirement) in Bangkok, since that is where I had always done them, and where my "permanent" address was registered.

However, during the year, Iived in Phuket, and I did my quarterly 90-day address reports to the local Immo office there, giving my apartment in Phuket town as my (temporary) residence.

That seemed to be fine with Immo/Phuket as well as Immo/CW (since they never checked the TM47 in those days).

Not sure if that would work these days, however.
