I just saw on  a Google news site that anyone receiving SS benefits for any reason must visit a SS office in person or they will no longer receive checks???

I tried to log in to my secure.ssa.gov site but  I can't open the web site. I logged in to that site a few weeks ago to see if anything had changed, and it hadn't.

I would think that the US embassy would send out some kind of notice if visiting a SS office in person would be something we living here would be affected by.

Anyone know the facts on this, or was that fake news on Google???

I found out recently we're all, those who joined before September 18, 2021, are supposed to apply to Login.gov by April by going to Social Security's US site. I was told it was something we should do, and not something we had to do, talking to Manila last year. I applied just last week because I can no longer access mysocialsecurity. I will be calling them tomorrow to see if the code I am expecting to come to my US address, my daughter's house, will allow me to just join the new site with my information or do I have to first login to my existing account. What they should have done is make sure we all got the information by email also. ............

The SSA now requires anyone who created a My Social Security account before September 18, 2021, to transition to Login.gov. This new platform provides a single, secure login for multiple government services. The update aims to: Strengthen protection against identity theft and cyberattacks.Apr 26, 2568 BE

Not true about everyone.

So calm down.

However there are additional issues with starting claims and changing bank accounts that will require in person visits for some.

Also service is greatly degraded due to massive staff cuts by the Trump regime.

Not sure if it is a problem now, but a couple of months ago, I couldn't log in after 8 PM EST. When I tried at night here, I had no problem.

You just couldn't post and leave Trump out of it.

I recently played around with IDME. The wait for verification was 15 minutes.

Baltimore is notorious for inaction as a city. SS I imagine is legend.

Cuts are 10% proposed. Given these are government workers you could probably cut 20% and not affect anything. That is of course assuming that the other people are even productive.

You lose all credibility by posting that rubbish. Do you have an a political link that backs up your post?

Sorry for you that you haven't bothered to follow the news. Absolutely the recent massive cuts to SS staff are from the Trump regime (via Musk. etc.). Obviously that is going to strain already strained service. That is objective FACT.

Worker cuts at Social Security are roiling the agency : NPR
