hankamazon Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 I want to renew my driver's license by mail from Thailand, but driver's license bureau have some requirements such as eye exam paper, residency notorization ect. Is there such thing as "notorization" in thailand? If yes, where do you get it? and how do I get the resident notorization? by showing my electric or telefone bill to prove I live here? anyone know?
dr_Pat_Pong Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Take some evidence of residence into your Embassy, and you should get notorizations done there with no fuss.
thaihome Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Don't forget the $30 or equivalent baht: notarials
Dancali Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 I have a health/travel insurance claim of about $130 I'm trying to file. I figure there's a decent chance they'll only give me $50-$60 in the first place. They want it notarized. Are there any other options than a $30 US Embassy stamp?

If they require the notary service they should be paying for it. Include the receipt with your claim.
PvtDick Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 There was previously no notarial system in Thailand. A new one has been instituted, though, in the past year. I would think that many of the local law firms that service farangs would now have an accredited notary public on staff. It may not end up costing much less than $30 though.
