Crime Police Arrest Man Selling E-Cigarettes from Rented House
Picture courtesy of SiamRath. Bangkok police have arrested a man and his girlfriend, accused of illegally selling e-cigarettes online after raiding a rented house used as a storage and distribution point. On 12 August, officers from Investigation Division 3 of the Metropolitan Police executed a search warrant at a property in Lat Pla Khao 1 Alley, Lat Phrao district, following a tip-off that e-cigarettes were being sold via the Line messaging app, targeting students and young consumers. The suspect, 37-year-old Mr Worawi, was the tenant of the house and assisted police during the search. Authorities seized 1,371 bottles of e-cigarette liquid, 509 disposable e-cigarettes, 199 refillable e-liquids and 30 vaping devices. Mr Worawi has been charged under the Customs Act 2017 (Sections 244 and 246) with concealing, selling, transporting, or receiving goods that entered Thailand without proper customs clearance. His girlfriend was not charged. Police warned that online sales of unregulated e-cigarettes remain illegal and encouraged the public to report similar activities. Updates and events in the War in Ukraine 2025
The world is sliding backward toward the era of strongmen, 19th-century imperialism, and the collapse of the Western liberal, rules-based international order. These are cyclical forces in human history they ebb and flow, but they follow a familiar pattern. It’s tragic that the Enlightenment’s promise has not led humanity steadily upward toward light and freedom for all. Human instinct and the idea of a conscious moral revolution hold little sway over large parts of the globe. We may wish it were otherwise, but China is poised to dominate the emerging world order, surrounded by authoritarian vassal states in its orbit. The West, meanwhile, seems to lack the will to resist, its people preoccupied with the erosion of rights and entitlements that many of us have grown complacent upon. And in places like Thailand, life is cheap cheap for a reason. Comfort here often rests on the broken backs of those who serve, without ever sharing in the fruits of the liberal order we claim to value. As for me, I only wish to live out my days and see my partner and their family do the same in peace, no more, no less. If that means rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, then so be it. This is the ruling party of Georgia Georgia's Dream current ad - powerfully point made and another area where we should stay the hell out of. -
