Best to see an ophthalmologist, but often a simple maintenance plan—like regular preservative-free artificial tears—can bring relief. I’ve effectively battled dry eye and allergic conjunctivitis for years, maybe I can help:

Duration: Has the tearing lasted more than two weeks?
Dryness: Do you feel burning, grit or fatigue in the eyes?
Allergy: Any itching or seasonal allergy symptoms?
Lids: Notice any crusting or redness along the lash line?
Environment: How much screen time, and are you often in air-conditioned, windy or very dry spaces?

Dry eye can often stem from tear-film breakup due to lipid-layer deficiency from meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).

i think it's misdiagnosed. dry eye literally means not enough water in the eyes

Not necessarily. Dry eyes can lead the tear ducts to overproduce.

I found that eye drops can help temporarily to lubricate the eyes but the advice is to not overuse them,so it can come back. It's bit of a vicious circle and exacerbated by the heat.

My eyes keep watering is there a cure

Go see an eye doctor and see what's going on.

I had eye surgery a year ago and had the problem for a while. What I found out is that there are different kinds of dry eyes. Some eye drops work better than others, depending.  Once you figure out what you need, it's easy enough to buy the stuff OTC.

I am terrified of eye surgery ... if they screw up the surgery, they can make it worse, no?

Don't want to fear monger, but for myself surgery on the eyes is scary. I would research the risks carefully.

I stopped using the eye drops sold in conventional pharmacies because I think long-term use of those drops is not good.

I now use these from iHerb ... but has not fixed the problem. Just contains it.

They are natural, made of honey. Which has some special properties. It was recommended by an opthalmalogist online.

One thing my doctor recommend for dry eyes that really works is daily cleaning of the eye lids. They recommend ocusoft lid scrub. You can also use cotton balls with warm water. You can see a video how to clean your eyes.

The item below sells for about ฿170-฿200 per bottle in Thailand. you can get it at just about any Thai pharmacy. It's a 10 ML bottle and if you use it twice a day, a bottle lasts about six weeks. One of the best things I've found for dry eyes.

It is the best I have found here, but I use the throw away vials as they are preservative free.  How much that matters, I really don't know.

I don't know. I've always used the 10ML bottle for convenience. But I've dealt with those individual eyedrop disposable type things in the past and I always found them too much work. But no need to worry about it if you like what you're using. Everyone is different.

I can't read it.

What's in it?

The problem is drops need to be taken perpetually as there does not appear to be a cure for dry eyes.

So I don't think it's a good idea to put synthetic / artificial stuff in your eyes for a long period of time.

Honey drops are natural, no preservatives.

Also, hyalonauric acid (did I spell it right) drops are useful. This is sth found in the body, but there is less of it as we age. And it keeps the eyes moist. I had a brand back home that had no preservatives. I will need to check if iHerb has it.

So nothing I really use anymore.

Renu drops are NOT for dry eye.

They are only for contact lens wearers with lens-related dryness.

They moisten the lenses, which can make contacts more comfortable.

But if you have dry eye as a condition, Renu isn’t designed to treat that. It doesn’t target the inflammation, tear film issues, or gland dysfunction that might be causing the dry eye.

It helps for irritating eyes from smoke and wind exposure as I described, and if you have infection or inflammation I recommended him to go to an eye dr in my very first reply.

Yes, you can use Renu eye drops, which are lubricating and rewetting drops, without wearing contact lenses. They are designed to provide moisturizing comfort for your eyes, whether you're wearing contacts or not. However, it's important to note that contact lens solutions, which are different from eye drops, should not be used directly in the eyes.

I was seeing a doctor for several months.

Problem not fixed.

Eyes appear to be complicated and not always easy to fix.

I dread ever having to need eye surgery.

One guy in the US just committed suicide after a laser eye surgery gone wrong.

That is because your eyes are over compensating for the dryness.

Then look at your diet, sleep, hydration, environment, dust, midd,

What can cause your problems? Hygiene wash your face with clean water,do not use tap water, change your mattress, blankets more often, washing chemicals-softener, aircon, need an air-purifier?

Allergies?

Yeah, good luck trying to hunt down the root cause.

Doctors don't have a clue half the time.

I have a similar problem. It is a dysfunction of the Meibomian glands who normally provide an oily substance to lubricate the eyes. In the nighttime I have to use a gel and in the daytime lubrication drops. Due to missing oily solution all kind of dust particles accumulate in the eyes below the lid and this leads to itching and inflammation. Therefore cleaning of the eyes is recommended, there is a good foam available in pharmacies.

Maybe you can assist, but I cannot find any information that supports your claims.

In fact, Bausch & Lomb only has FDA clearance for Renu MultiPlus as a lubricating and rewetting drop for soft contact lenses during wear — not as a general dry eye treatment.

The official FDA filing (K980591, p.4) states:
“ReNu MultiPlus Lubricating and Rewetting Drops are intended to lubricate and rewet soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses during wear.”

And the Lazada label in Thai explicitly says:
"ไม่ใช้สำหรับรักษาโรคตา" — "Not for treatment of eye diseases."

Seems clear — it’s not designed, approved, or labeled for non-contact lens users or dry eye sufferers.
