A devastating fire broke out at a motorcycle helmet manufacturing factory in Samut Sakhon late afternoon on 11 June, destroying nearly the entire building but fortunately resulting in no injuries or fatalities.

At approximately 17:00, Pol. Lt. Col. Jamnong Noeikham, an investigator at Nam Bang Chuet sub-station in Mueang District, received an emergency report of a fire at a helmet production factory located in Bang Nam Chuet Sub-district.

Over ten fire engines from local administrative organisations, including Bang Nam Chuet Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, Kharai and Suan Luang municipalities, Khlong Maduea Town Municipality, Om Noi City Municipality, and Kok Krabue Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, were urgently dispatched to the scene.

The factory, located at 99/20 Moo 5, occupies over two rai of land and consists of a single-storey building. The front section serves as an office, the rear is used for spray-painting and curing helmets, while the central area houses materials and completed products awaiting delivery.

The blaze is believed to have originated in the rear spray-painting section. The intensity of the flames caused the roof structure to collapse. The fire severely damaged machinery used in the painting process, several paint containers and a large number of helmets awaiting finishing. Firefighters took several hours to bring the flames under control.

The factory supervisor said the business has been operating for nine years, exclusively producing motorcycle helmets. At the time of the incident, the workday was coming to an end and around nine to ten workers were preparing to leave. Suddenly, flames erupted, prompting all workers to flee the building just in time. No one was injured.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Police will coordinate with forensic experts to determine the origin of the blaze. The value of the damage is still being assessed.
