My cousin is an immigration attorney in Miami, and he tells me that top MIT graduates who finish their programs in nuclear physics, can't get a visa to work for an American company within the US. So they either need to go work for that American company overseas, or they need to work for another company overseas. Either way it's a huge brain drain away from the US. He also tells me that the quota system is 70 years old and is in drastic need of updating, especially for the higher qualified people with great expertise. 

 

The less educated amongst us and the ones who gorge on podcasts and engage in memes, do not want to look into this and do not want to educate themselves on what is a very serious issue in regard to immigration. 

 

Let's have an honest discussion here. Trump convinced members of Congress and the Senate to veto an immigration bill last term, as he did not want Biden to get credit for the passage of this bill. You could not only make an argument that it was a huge disservice to his nation, but you could also make an argument that it was entirely selfish motives that compelled him to act in such an unpatriotic manner.

Regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum it's difficult to argue with public sentiment, and the public seems to be disagreeing with Trump's handling of recent events, and his poll numbers seem to be reflecting that.

they are not illegal, they are hired on a temporary basis to pick up the crops, usually 3 months and then go back to their home country, if I remember correctly there was a very old (California) law/agreement  about that, it's been going for many generations

I'm actually an immigration hardliner. There needs to be a clean out and mass deportations. But it needs to concentrate on the cities. Farm workers and hotels/resorts are the easiest to fix. There is a visa for them already, the H2A. It would be a fairly simple matter to have current illegals do a border run (at the farmers and hoteliers expense) and be processed for their visas. As for the hotel owner (Trump), I think there is an even bigger hotel/casino/resort complex owner behind this, Miriam Adelson.

I think that could be said about a lot of his actions, he's obviously flailing at this point, his poll numbers are dropping alot, and a lot of his policies are falling flat, so he's desperately trying to create some distractions.
