Why do most people NOT smoke weed even though it's legal?

After the 3 years of legal weed in Thailand, we can see that weed is still a very niche product. Not many people are using it. Many weed shops stay empty all day and  probably survive only because of the few regular customers.

Why is it so? Why do most people not smoke weed? Why are most people absolutely okay with alcohol, but not weed?

Did you think just because it was legal everyone would start using it?

Kinda pisses on those 'drugs are bad' idiots fireworks doesn't it.

In my local there are about 5 smokers. There were 5 before, but just did it at home.

"Some". But I'm talking about "most".

To be fair, there are very few people I know who haven't, at some point, done both and more.

Most people DO drink, at least in small quantities or occasionally. Those who never drink any alcohol are rare. But those who never smoke any weed are a majority. See the difference?

This may or may not be a popular opinion but........

I got addicted to kratom for a while...yeah yeah, I know..silly me. I was given it by my ex wifes dad. He ate it all day everyday. It was a bit of a boost with coffee and I started munching on the leaves throughout the day....bad idea....(bear with me I am getting to ganja) It didnt make me feel out of control or drunk in any way...it was a mild relaxing/ stimulant.

Fast forward a couple of years later and i tried to get off it. I had withdrawals and found it VERY hard to sleep. After a week of basically little to no sleep I decided to have a bit of weed to help me. It helped. I smoked every night for about 1 month.....then I decided to stop.

Here is the insidious thing about ganja. Yes, it can help you sleep and it WAS helpful for me......BUT!! while I was smoking it every night I  started to notice feeling not great during the day. I couldnt put my finger on it. I was kind of ok, functional but there was 'something' there. After I stopped something VERY noticeable happened. I had REM dream bounce back on a HUGE level.....and gradually, I started feeling myself again.

I dont care what bong heads say. There is something negative about smoking this stuff every night in that it KILLS REM sleep. I think longterm this must have negative consequences. There is a reason we dream, I dont know what that reason is but stopping it is NOT  good idea.

I think it should be legal and I still use it on occasion.

Weed was used in "spiritual practices" ie ceremonies.

People are misusing it today.

It wasn't meant to be smoked daily just to get a buzz.

uh huh, gatekeep harder, why doncha?

What, pray tell, was it meant for, and who made the decisions?

Legalization of soft drugs makes it easier to get involved in the world of drugs. And after that, some people easily move on and try harder and harder drugs.

nonsense. Legal or not, access to drugs has been effortless, especially since the sixties.

All legalizing something already mainstream does is encourage people to more publicly admit the behavior.|

They apparently used it for "religious ceremonies", but I guess it could be that they just wanted to get high and use the religious part as an excuse.
