Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip indicate a breach of the human rights provisions contained in its Association Agreement with the European Union, a highly anticipated review from the bloc's diplomatic service has found, citing a collection of findings by independent international organisations.

 

The breach stems from Israel's war on Gaza and the stringent conditions applied to the deliveries of humanitarian aid, which have stoked fears of widespread famine among Palestinians living in the densely populated enclave. It also covers Israel's decades-long occupation of the West Bank, where settlers have engaged in violent acts.

 

Europeans have reacted with shock and fury at reports of Palestinians being killed by the Israeli army while waiting for supplies at distribution sites.

Not all of the EU member states then.

 

Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy and Lithuania were against, and Latvia adopted a "neutral" position, sources said then.

Israel decried the decision and called on Brussels to keep bilateral dialogue going.

"We completely reject the direction taken in the statement, which reflects a total misunderstanding of the complex reality Israel is facing," a spokesperson of Israel's foreign ministry said in May. "This war was forced upon Israel by Hamas, and Hamas is the one responsible for its continuation."

That was before the enquiry started. The result of the enquiry seems to be this:

I'll say it again, might makes right, everything else is just noise. People seem to think there is some type of World rules and laws, guess who made those? Yup, those with the most "might". At any moment someone could come along and change that, because as soon as the mightiest wins, the World laws and rules change. People need to stop being so naive as to believe they are safe from everything because someone or some organization makes a declaration, law, or rules.

What on earth are you talking about? What was at the start of the enquiry? The member states that refused to take part did not magically change their minds. They still refuse.

 

What enquiry are you referring to anyway? This was a review of the pact the EU has with Israel, not an enquiry.

 

Any serious action taken, a big if then it takes a unanimous decision of member states which they just do not have. In addition keeping the 17 member states that wanted the review in lockstep will still be a problem. Any action will not be announced till the end of the summer, note if any action! The review outcome also needs to be presented to Israel first.

Where did I claim I know what their opinion is? 
 

I call it a review because that’s what they call it. 

 

EU foreign ministers are set to discuss the review during a gathering in Brussels on Monday. Member countries remain divided in their approach to Israel.

While some ministers could advocate for moving toward taking action based on the review, no concrete decisions are expected at Monday’s session.

It's actually fact, as "true" as the Sun rising tomorrow, but I don't expect naive people to believe it. They seem to believe in a fantasy world where the "good guys" always win, and their version of "right and wrong" is the only version out there, those who wield strength through force/power control "right and wrong".
