Accident 79-Year-Old Man Killed After 18-Wheel Truck Fails to Avoid Motorcycle
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A harrowing road crash in Sing Buri has claimed the life of a 79-year-old man after a collision between a motorcycle and an 18-wheel lorry. The incident occurred on the Sing Buri–Chai Nat Road, at kilometre marker 46+800, in Tambon Thap Ya, In Buri District. Police Lieutenant Colonel Wechayan Hiranyasuwan, deputy investigating officer at In Buri Police Station, received the emergency report and rushed to the scene alongside a medical examiner from In Buri Hospital and personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation. At the scene, a silver Honda Wave motorcycle bearing registration plate from Sing Buri was found mangled and lying in the middle of the road. Nearby, the body of the deceased, later identified as Mr Somchai Klinhom, 79, of 6/1, Moo 1, Tambon Thap Ya, was found severely crushed, indicating he had died instantly. Approximately 100 metres from the point of impact, police located the 18-wheel lorry involved. The white Hino lorry, with vehicle registration from Lopburi and trailer registration from Saraburi, was parked on the left-hand roadside. The driver, Mr Sumet Bunphairoj, 29, of Nong Yai To Subdistrict, Chai Badan District, Lopburi, remained at the scene to meet with police. According to Mr Sumet’s statement, he was driving normally when the motorcycle suddenly emerged from a side road on his left, cutting in very closely. He attempted to brake and swerve to avoid the collision, but due to the size and weight of the vehicle, he was unable to steer clear. The rear wheels of the lorry subsequently ran over the motorcycle and its rider, dragging both along the road. Police conducted an alcohol test on Mr Sumet, which returned a reading of zero. Accident Samut Sakhon: Three 13-Year-Old Boys Drown While Fishing
Pictures courtesy of Amarin. Three schoolboys, all aged 13, drowned while fishing near a watergate in the Krathum Baen district of Samut Sakhon province. Their lifeless bodies were discovered beneath the surface, in an incident that has left the local community in shock and mourning. The incident occurred near the Ang Thong floodgate at the Pasicharoen Water Delivery and Maintenance Project in Talad Krathum Baen subdistrict. Authorities were alerted at around 416:30 on 21 June and rescue divers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene, accompanied by police and medical personnel from Krathum Baen Hospital. Onlookers gathered along the concrete embankment as divers recovered the body of the first victim, identified as Krit, a Matthayom 1 student at Krathum Baen Wisetsamutkhun School and a member of the school’s football team. A fishing hook was still attached to the waistband of his shorts when his body was found. Rescuers continued to search the murky waters and, just ten minutes later, recovered the remaining two victims, identified as Phong and Phat, also 13-year-old students from Thetsaban Wat Don Kaidee School. The boys were discovered underwater, clinging to one another in a final embrace. Fishing rods and a speargun were found on the algae-covered embankment nearby. Police collected these items as evidence, though it remains unclear whether they belonged to the victims or had been left by someone else. A local security guard stationed at the floodgate told investigators that he had not seen the boys enter the area. He conducted a routine patrol around 13:00 and found no one present, before leaving for a meal. Later in the afternoon, he returned and noticed fishing gear left unattended. Suspecting something was wrong, he asked his nephew to check if the equipment belonged to a local child. When the boy tried to reel in one of the rods, a body was unexpectedly pulled to the surface. His family immediately contacted the police. The cause of the incident is still unclear. Authorities are awaiting full post-mortem reports from Siriraj Hospital’s forensic institute and plan to interview the victims’ families, who were too grief-stricken to provide statements at the scene.
