A road crash occurred on the morning of 25 June in Chachoengsao province, when a yellow passenger songthaew driver, veered out of control during heavy rain and crossed into oncoming traffic, crashing into both a six-wheeled lorry and a ten-wheeled truck. Miraculously, the driver survived.

The crash happened on the Chachoengsao–Phanat Nikhom road, in Moo 3 of the Si Phet Sok subdistrict, Ban Pho district. Police Lieutenant Colonel Teep Mailuekdee, an investigator at Ban Pho Police Station, responded to the emergency along with rescue workers from Ban Pho Hospital and the Chachoengsao rescue foundation.

Emergency services found one injured man trapped inside the wreckage of the six-wheeled lorry. He was later identified as Mr. Thammarat aged 20. Rescuers managed to extract him and transport him to Ban Pho Hospital.

The songthaew driver, told police he was returning to central Chachoengsao from Phanat Nikhom in Chonburi. At the time, there were no passengers on board. According to his statement, the vehicle hit a large patch of standing water amid heavy rain, causing him to lose control. The songthaew mounted the central reservation and crossed into the opposing lane, where it collided first with a light blue Hino six-wheeled lorry, driven by Mr. Thanun, who was travelling with his son. It then struck a white ten-wheeled Hino lorry in the inside lane, driven by Mr. Wichan, who sustained only minor injuries to his wrist.

Mr. Wichan recounted the moment: “I was driving towards Phanat Nikhom when Mr. Thanun’s truck overtook in the right lane. Suddenly, the songthaew came skidding across the median straight into us, crashing between our two vehicles.” He described the crash as a “miracle” that the songthaew driver survived at all.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to confirm the exact sequence of events.

Authorities have not ruled out further legal or safety actions pending a full investigation.
