It is clearly not irrelevant how the brawl started. The fact that the Swede used violence on a Thai woman is extremely relevant. The video of the Swede pushing the girl violently to the floor with very strong force speaks for itself.

 

The Thais who attacked the man should NOT be charged because they in fact can claim self-defence, as they came to the aid of a woman who was subjected to physical assault by a Swede.

 

You have the right to defend another person who is being attacked, just as you would defend yourself. 

 

The threat of force by the Swede was not just imminent but had already happened by the time the Thais imparted justice on the Swede.

 

So the Thais acted in self-defence, as they were defending the woman from imminent violence, in fact the Swede had already perpetrated violence on her. As he floored the girl, so the Thais were justified to floor him.

Yes, she was holding something, whether his ear, his hair, his jewellery or his T-shirt. That's all she was doing, she was not even slapping him. If you want to claim self defence the force used has to be reasonable and in proportion. So if someone slaps you then you can slap him, you can't punch his teeth out and knock him out.

 

Since the girl was merely holding his ear, he could hold her hear, or use reasonable force to remove her hand from his ear. But he can't use the force that he used, which was so strong that it catapulted her to the floor. She could have hit her head on the concrete and suffered a serious injury.

 

The Swede foolishly escalated things. He got what he deserved.

A mate of mine was riding his Aerox on soi Buakhou, there was an English guy walking in the middle of the road, my mate stopped and told the guy to walk on the side of the road, crazy English guy started hitting my mate, saying he hated Aussies, when he finished punching my mate he started spitting at him. 

 

This happened a week ago, Sunday afternoon, he reported to police with a video downloaded from a nearby hotel, cops have done nothing.
