Has anyone else received an email from Santander International,  they are now requiring a minimum balance of £75,000 or they will begin to charge £40 a month fee.

The problem is i have had this offshore account for 20 years , i use to keep substantial sums in the account but i withdrew most of it because of there ridiculously low interest rates.

They are offering a rate of 0.125% on a £75,0000 balance , I can get 4% elsewhere , surely no one is going to invest £75,000 at that low rate of interest rate and no one is going to pay the required £40 a month

I left them sometime ago because I couldn't bear their rotten service.  I suppose you could keep your regular account.

(1) The GBP 75k limit applies across all products - not just you bank account.  If you had fund investments with them, GBP 75k is not so ridiculous.

(2) Consider switching to the likes of Standard Bank (Isle of Man).  The minimum there is GBP 5k.
