The final victims of the catastrophic fire at a tissue paper factory in Saraburi province has been recovered, bringing the total death toll to ten. Rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation discovered the tenth body on the morning of 2 July, during a systematic search of the factory, which had been severely damaged in the blaze.

The fire broke out on 30 June and raged for nearly nine hours at the tissue factory located within the Nong Khae (Hemaraj) Industrial Estate. In addition to the fatalities, 26 individuals were reported injured.

The final body, believed to be that of the last missing worker, was located at around 10:30 during a renewed effort to comb through the most hazardous sections of the site. Police and forensic teams are carrying out examinations of remains for formal identification via DNA analysis.

The ninth body, was found earlier on the same day, on the west side of the building and was severely burned, reduced to skeletal remains. The previous night, rescue personnel also discovered a dismembered human leg among the rubble, which was sent to Nong Khae Hospital for further investigation.

Kritchakon Boonyanusit, the factory’s Director of Human Resources, confirmed that the full facility remains closed until further notice. “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. All employees continue to receive their wages and benefits during this time. Our priority is to support the affected families and to fully cooperate with investigators,” he said.

Authorities are now focusing on confirming the identities of all victims and determining the precise cause of the fire. Forensic experts at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok are using blood samples and DNA provided by relatives to aid the identification process.

The investigation remains ongoing.
