Thailand Tightens Cannabis Laws, Dispensaries Must Transform

I just don't get it if it isn't political...

The "problems" are easy to fix :

1. About the smell : There are already rules that say smoking in public is prohibited thus, they aren't enforced. WHY ?

2. About smuggling : It would be easy to make more controls at the airports, with some sniffer dogs and enhanced x ray machines . Anyway those brainless smugglers idiots will always continue to do that regardless of the status of the plant.

3. About the youngsters, the breastfeeding and pregnant women, again there are rules, enforced ??

4. All the shops that are near schools must relocate or close.

I don't understand how anybody could even consider smuggling cannabis in there luggage, 51kilos one was caught with no sniffer dog required to detect that,

I don't really agree with point 4     as long as kids are not allowed to purchase I don't think it matters where the shops are   The shop could be 800 meters away the kids will still see it when walking home,

Good, legalising weed was the biggest mistake Thailand has made in the last 10 years, the only reason it was legalised in the first place was because the fat cats in charge at the time had their greas

You can’t beat a megapint of red wine at happy hour.

except with a bottle of lao khao mixed with a bit of M150

If you’re going to allow cannabis (with the proper restrictions) I would prefer to see 7-11’s selling it.

Discussion is the raison d'être of a discussion forum. If everyone agreed with everyone else, there would be no more discussion, and no more forum.

All you do is accuse people who disagree with you of being drunkards, which is a really daft way to conduct a conversation.

Discussion is fine , but to come on a thread which was intended to inform cannabis users regarding current legislation and to  continually berate and insult  others with the usual filthy "pot head,"  "psychotic stoners " type remarks clearly indicates that some have no intention of discussing anything, they are simply here to troll , Many of the anti cannabis types are heavy drinkers and therefore hypocrites, nothing wrong with calling them out in my opinion

indeed why on earth not ?  they are currently allowed to sell 40% alcoholic spirits in quantities that would be lethal if consumed in their entirety,  A small amount of weed is really neither here or there really

the massive downside of the softening of the rules did nothing but attract criminal gangs from all over the world, who took advantage of Thailands pathetic law enforcement to ship huge amounts out of the country to wherever it was needed,

Thailand has always produced huge quantities of cannabis, thousands of tons every year grown out doors in huge fields. Dwarfing any amounts grown more recently in tents and warehouses and other controlled environments. What do you think happened to all that weed before?  It obviously wasn't all for domestic consumption, so guess what , huge amounts have always been exported , and the rules regarding that have never been softened. large scale international drug smugglers surprisingly do not concern themselves with legalities

is it happy hour already,?

Not all of us here are insulting people for using cannabis. The purpose of this thread is to discuss legislation, so it's expected that some people will be for the upcoming changes, and some will be against.

Accusing everyone of alcohol abuse who has a view that differs from yours is just plain silly. It makes one wonder whether cannabis has affected your ability to hold polite conversations about the effects of cannabis on society, and the reasons why it might need to be controlled.

Right now, cannabis is as available as candy, and its effects on young people in particular are harmful. Yes, alcohol can be harmful too if it is abused - we all know that - but why does that mean other nasty substances should be made available too? What next? Attractively branded heroin "dispensaries" on every street corner?

Well, I don't think the tiny shop, which I buy from will be employing a doctor any time soon.

They've only just managed to get a good little business going and now they'll probably shut down.

Way to go lawmakers!

Probably not, but the Canadian government has more than 2 braincells to rub together, also the comparison between Thailand and Canada as tourist destinations is like chalk and cheese, il bet there isnt a cannabis shop every 50m in Vancouver or Montreal, stinking the streets out and atttacting criminal smuggling gangs is there?

We aint talking about tourist destination -- dont deviate from what we're talking about.

Has Canada done a good job when it comes to weed or no?

I don't know about Vancouver as I've never been there. But I'm born, bred, raised from Montreal. I know a lot from there.

Stick to the topic.

They won't need a doctor just a forged "prescription" business as usual
