A 22-year-old security guard has been arrested after fatally stabbing a co-worker during a heated argument at a security booth in front of a residential housing estate in Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province.

The incident occurred around 20:00 on 4 July 2025. Police Lieutenant Veerachai Mongkolthai, deputy investigator at Bang Bua Thong Police Station, received reports of a fatal stabbing and responded to the scene with a forensic team, rescue personnel, and senior officers including Police Colonel Prut Jamrunchart, the district police superintendent.

At the scene, officers found the body of Mr. Chalermkiat 52, a long-serving security guard, inside the guard booth. He had sustained a single stab wound beneath his left ribcage, inflicted with a sharp object.

The suspect, identified as Mr. Manit, 22 a fellow security guard on the same shift, remained at the scene and surrendered to police. He admitted to the killing and directed officers to where he had thrown the folding knife over the housing estate wall.

According to Manit’s statement, the dispute began when Mr. Chalermkiat arrived late for duty and appeared to be intoxicated. Manit, who had arrived earlier, confronted him about both issues. The argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Manit pulled out a folding knife he had on his person and stabbed the older man. He claimed to have chased him from the booth, stabbed him on the street, and then dragged him back into the booth before calling police himself to report the incident.

Manit’s 50-year-old mother spoke to reporters, expressing her shock and heartbreak. “He called us to come to the guardhouse, saying he stabbed someone but didn’t know if they were alive. He didn’t explain why,” she said. “He’s always been a good son. Never had problems with anyone. He told me his job was going well. I never imagined he’d do something like this. He must have been pushed to his limit.”

Police Colonel Prut confirmed that the suspect has been charged with homicide and has been taken into custody for prosecution.
