Emergency services successfully brought a fierce blaze under control late evening on 5 July, after a fire broke out at a furniture and motorcycle battery storage warehouse in Samut Sakhon province.

The fire was first reported at approximately 20.20 at a warehouse located in Soi Wat Klang Angkaew, in the Tha Sai subdistrict of Mueang District. The building, which serves as a furniture storage facility and motorcycle battery depot, was quickly engulfed in flames.

Initial reports indicated that the fire spread rapidly through the warehouse, which was filled with highly flammable materials. In response, local disaster prevention units and neighbouring municipal teams mobilised over 20 fire engines to battle the inferno. Personnel from the Samut Sakhon Rescue Foundation, Ruamkatanyu Foundation, and Poh Teck Tung Foundation also attended the scene to provide support and emergency assistance.

According to officials, the building, approximately 50 square metres in size, was entirely consumed by the flames, with all stored finished furniture destroyed. Firefighters worked for nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control, gradually reducing the intensity of the fire. The materials stored within the warehouse, particularly finished wood furniture, contributed to the fire’s severity and the difficulty in extinguishing it.

During the operation, parts of the warehouse structure began to collapse. Fire crews continued dousing the remains with water well into the night to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to prevent any possible re-ignition.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Residents of several nearby homes were alarmed by the incident, but prevailing winds helped prevent the spread of flames and smoke towards residential areas.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Investigators from the Forensic Science Division are to inspect the site to determine the origin of the blaze. An assessment of the total damage is pending, subject to evaluation by the warehouse owners.
