Thai anti-narcotics officials have arrested Mr Tan Leng Chong, a significant Singaporean drug trafficker, at a resort in Bangkok. The operation expanded to capture an Indonesian couple linked to the network and seize a luxury Maserati car.

Tan, wanted in Singapore for drug offences carrying a death penalty, coordinated a complex operation smuggling drugs like ecstasy and ketamine from Thailand to Singapore.

These were concealed in carry-on luggage on flights.

The arrest followed collaboration with Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). Thai authorities discovered Tan in Pattaya before tracking him to Bangkok.

Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), Pol Lt Gen Phanurat Lukboon, plans further operations, including a trip to Myanmar to apprehend additional suspects.

The ONCB is coordinating with international agencies to tackle drug trafficking networks using Thailand as a transit hub.
