A devastating road accident in Bang Khonthi district, Samut Songkhram, has left two men dead in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a bicycle on the evening of 7 July.

Police from Bang Khonthi station were alerted to the fatal incident at approximately 19:30 on the Bang Nok Khwaek–Damnoen Saduak road. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of 19-year-old Mr. Damrongchai, a local rice porridge vendor and 72-year-old Mr. Surasak, who had been cycling to feed stray dogs.

Mr. Damrongchai was found with fatal injuries including a broken neck, facial trauma and multiple abrasions. His black Honda PCX motorcycle was damaged at the front. Mr. Surasak suffered a fractured left leg, a head wound and a broken neck. His bicycle was completely mangled, with the front wheel detached and food intended for dogs scattered across the road.

Relatives from both families arrived at the scene. Mr. Khamin, 35, the uncle of Mr. Damrongchai, explained that his nephew had just closed his food stall near a convenience store and was riding home to attend to personal matters when the crash occurred. He also noted that Mr. Surasak was a regular customer of both himself and his nephew.

Initial police investigations suggest that the collision occurred when Mr. Surasak, cycling from his home, crossed paths with Mr. Damrongchai’s oncoming motorcycle.

Both bodies were transported to the Forensic Department at Ratchaburi Hospital for further examination. Police have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
