A 22-year-old delivery rider has been arrested for robbing a convenience store in Bangkok while accompanied by his dog, in an incident that has drawn comparisons to the action film character John Wick. The suspect made off with just 700 baht, but was tracked down and arrested two days later.

 

According to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, the suspect, identified as Mr. Anocha, was apprehended outside a dormitory in Nonthaburi province on 9 July. He was arrested under a warrant issued by the Taling Chan Criminal Court on charges of night-time robbery using disguise and a vehicle to facilitate the crime and escape.

 

The robbery took place on 7 July at approximately 22:10 at a convenience store near the entrance to Charan Sanitwong Soi 82 in Bang Phlat district, Bangkok. CCTV footage captured the suspect wearing a black balaclava and entering the store with his dog. He threatened staff and forced them to open the till, escaping with around 700 baht in cash. No injuries were reported during the incident.

 

Police used surveillance footage and witness accounts to track the suspect’s movements. Investigators observed that the dog waited loyally outside the shop as the robbery took place, drawing comparisons to the iconic dog-loving assassin John Wick.

 

Upon arrest, Mr. Anocha confessed, stating that financial hardship drove him to commit the crime. He claimed to be working as a rider and had scouted the store multiple times before carrying out the robbery. He expressed regret and admitted he had been “happy for only two days” before being caught.

 

The suspect is now in custody at Bang Phlat Police Station and faces formal charges in connection with the robbery. Authorities have not yet confirmed what will happen to the dog.
