A magnitude 5.2 earthquake that struck Myanmar in the afternoon of 14 July and was felt across several districts in Chiang Rai province. According to the Department of Mineral Resources’ Earthquake Monitoring Centre, the quake occurred at 15:06 and originated on land at a depth of 10 kilometres.

The epicentre was located approximately 132 kilometres northeast of Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai, and was attributed to movement along the Jinghong Fault, a left-lateral strike-slip fault known for seismic activity in the region.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, although no immediate aftershocks have yet been recorded.
