Incorrect Wise Thai Bank Codes?

Featured Replies

I'm using Wise to transfer money for the first time, and given the problems I've read about on other threads, I wanted to confirm something strange I'm seeing before going through with the transfer.

When I add a recipient for a transfer, it doesn't ask for the SWIFT code. Instead, it just provides a list of banks to choose from (in my case it's "Bangkok Bank Public Company"). Then after I've chosen the bank, it shows a 3 digit bank code ("002" in this case). This is definitely not the SWIFT code of the bank, and this makes me wonder if maybe there is a problem in their system which could be why some people have been having trouble transferring money.

Has anyone who has used Wise recently to send money to Bangkok Bank Public Company (or any other Thai bank) seen this weird non-SWIFT bank code or had any problems?

I transfer money using WISE to Bangkok Bank since years without problems.

Last one was on July 2nd.

I also see "002".

Kasikorn is "004".

(that's the two banks I have accounts with)

But your big misunderstanding:

A standard WISE transfer has nothing to do with SWIFT code.

WISE uses a completely different method.

I guess these 002 and 004 are WISE specific numbers assigned to different Thai banks.

Before your thread I didn't even notice these numbers.

And what can be more clear then "Bangkok Bank Public Company"?

(WISE can do SWIFT transfers on request but that's an exception)

Thanks for the confirmation and clarification Khun. I agree that "Bangkok Bank Public Company" is very clear. It was just the bank code that I was unsure of but now I know.
