Thailand's Digital Baht Plan Targets Big-Spending Tourists

As I said I'm not going to get involved in a protracted debate trying to convince you, not my job. Convincing yourself is probably the greater priority.

And we all know what cat's do in a sandbox.

  • Like every other half rsed idea they come up with.

  • Another farcical idea.   How many tourists will avail themselves to this? Probably next to zero.   According to the article Thailand itself is only fifth in crypto - in the region.

Do they really think that tourists here for a two week holiday are going to go through all the rigmarole of KYC just so they can do some mobile crypto spending? Most will already have some form of mobile banking.

Not a chance, its a joke. It's exactly what Tony Yazbeck describes in his presentation. It's the old legacy system trying to remain relevant with a new money technology they cant control. This sandbox initiative isn't the Bitcoin way so it won't work. They are hoping the ignorant will remain ignorant but for those who are into Bitcoin for reasons other than price alone, won't fall for it.

"Holding the highest cryptocurrency ownership in Asia, Thailand ranks fifth globally."

Huh

I don’t understand how this initiative is going to produce the projected benefits/results. I must be missing something. Wouldn’t Thai merchants and vendors prefer cash? Why is it good for tourists? Is cash and credit cards for larger purchases not simpler and more straight forward? There must be something I am missing here.

I think the gist of this is that it makes a crypto to thb gateway, maybe allowing funding to a QR Promtpay app so the merchant just gets THB and the user spends crypto..

Delusional once again…

Thailand's Digital Baht Plan

so..  who's behind that ?    why is an  " acting " (not on the list of chosen successors ) PM rushing to shuffle ministers before the September reshuffle

why is a certain  " miracle cure "  mauevering to protect his offspring from the army ..

who invited WEF to visit the purple room ....WEF and WHO schedules for country readiness and central bank digital currencies

it's all happening right before everyone's eyes

Next time you pass thru immigration have a look around you

US is integrating crypto, looking to adopt stablecoin. Some in Thailand feel need to copy the effort despite no demand.

Thailand’s new crypto initiative is honestly a big step forward — it’s clear they’re aiming to become a serious digital hub in the region. What stands out to me is that it’s not just talk; they’re actually building infrastructure with proper regulation, banking partners, and licensed operators. That kind of approach can really boost tourism and bring in fresh capital.

On that note, I wanted to mention a platform I’ve been using for crypto trading and asset management - Arbionis. It’s more than just an exchange. It’s a full ecosystem with advanced tools for arbitrage, algorithmic trading, and real-time market analysis. The UI is super intuitive - easy for beginners, but also packed with features for more advanced users who want to fine-tune their strategies. Execution speed has also been solid in my experience.

If platforms like Arbionis eventually get integrated into Thailand’s crypto sandbox, it could be a game-changer - letting traders not only spend crypto while traveling but actively manage their capital on the go.

Anyone else here using Arbionis? Curious to hear what others think.

last 15 years bitcoin ROI is 50%/year or 17% monthly (compounding)  and the best strategy to grow own wealth is trading, algo-trading, futures, copy trading?

if btc returns 50%/year on avg and with trading/algo/trading you can easly 😃 make it twice then 1000$ in 15 years will become over 32 millions dollars (if the exchange dont goes bankrupt)

The fact that you don't own crypto does not means there is no demand. Lets see what happends when all the law details will be disclosed in the Royal Gazette, imho billions dollars will flow in registered exchange and thai banks.

555! Fair point, now that I took a second look and read more carefully, yeah, 50,000 THB / MONTH is not exactly "the crime of the century"
