Thai - Cambodia clash escalates dramatically, atleast 12 dead.

The dispute dates back to more than a hundred years ago, when the borders of the two nations were drawn after the French occupation of Cambodia.

Things officially became hostile in 2008, when Cambodia tried to register an 11th Century temple located in the disputed area as a Unesco World Heritage Site - a move that was met with heated protest from Thailand.

There were sporadic clashes over the years which saw soldiers and civilians killed on both sides.

The latest tensions ramped up in May after a Cambodian soldier was killed in a clash. This plunged bilateral ties to their lowest point in more than a decade.

In the past two months, both countries have imposed border restrictions on one another. Cambodia banned imports from Thailand such as fruits and vegetables, and stopped importing power and internet services.

Both countries have also strengthened troop presence along the border in recent weeks.

Too easy explanation. This time it's just a personal vendetta between the two leaders, and the people suffering. "You betrayed me and my daughter by revealing that secret conversation, now I am in troubling in my own country, I am going to teach you a lesson". That's the only and simply reason. Thai and Cambodian people paying the price of these ego leaders.

Bombing cities maybe, but a jungle war is extremely difficult.

US could not win in Vietnam.

Myanmar is a civil war in a jungle too . Unwinnable.

after WWII IMHO, US politicians took over the war "strategy" in every conflict they got us unvolved in.  Our forces were restricted as how they could respond to certain enemy acty and locations, while our forces were not allowed to pursue in certain areas nor bomb in certain areas and the enemy knew that and took advantage of those areas for retreat.  This happened in every conflict, as the politicians have not idea in most cases at the risks they put our forces in nor they really care it seems to me.  Now we have the worse leader ever when it comes to any conflict..I noted the other day, that we did have sanctions on the myanmar govt but because their leader praised Trump, he lifted those restrictions.  When the idiot voters elect a known narccicistic to the leadership, we all know that this country will surely be doomed.  Again, MHO.

Yesterday in adapted AN article, 100 Cambodian soldiers killed.

Couldnt find any big news paper saying same.

Even not today , just some unknown sites, only but Thaiexaminer as more known, showing,

So did they or not killed them or is it fake news? Positive propaganda for Thailand?

Really dont know, as a BK POST mention nothing. At least in browser.

No intention to go on site, as they will not switch off cookies and are not happy with my addblocker.

For the expat who wonder what is the cause of this, I would suggest that you talk to some older Thai people

who speak English, and you might find out.

I just hope this conflict ends soon and there are not too many people dying from this situation.

Get the Thais all whipped up and high on nationalism and perhaps they won't notice how dysfunctional the government really is.

It was only  a few....No doubt many many more killed on the roads in both countries in the same time.

Why the false equivalence? A wise man speaks when he has something to say, a fool speaks when he has to say something.
