I'm wanting to upgrade my NT fibre internet package as I seem to be paying for a faster service already but not getting it.  I'm on a 400/400 plan but should be able to get 1000/1000 for the same price.

The NT website has a section for upgrading the service.  Seems straightforward apart from needing to upload a 'MODEM/ONU' file.  I have no idea what this is or where I might find it.  Anyone know about this?

Perhaps they mean a picture of whatever modem or ONU you have so they can see if it is compatible with the higher speed?

You have a separate modem or or combined isp modem/router?

Depending on the brand (e.g. Huawei, ZTE, TOT-branded ONUs), the op might:

Log in to the ONU/modem's web interface, often via IP address like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.

Look under "System", "Device Info", or "Maintenance" sections.

There may be an option to download a backup or config file or screenshot the device information page.

Sometimes NT may use the term “file” loosely and just mean a screenshot or photo of the label on the modem or ONU showing the serial number and model (especially if they ask via LINE chat or phone).

Why do NT want it?

To pre-register or whitelist the ONU with their backend before provisioning new speeds.

To check if a new modem/ONU is needed, especially when upgrading to 1000 Mbps or higher.

You may be correct that they need to check if my existing modem is compatible with the higher speed.  My router is an ASUS gigabit model so that should be OK.

I actually managed to find a link to their contact centre so I emailed them to try to find out what they actually wanted.  i didn't get an answer that made any sort of sense.  As you suggest, I may just take a photo of my ZTE modem - with info label, if it has one - and upload that.

You should be able to use your browser to login to modem at the IP address I gave above with generic pwds (admin/admin etc??). Or look them up on the internet for your model modem and get the  'MODEM/ONU' file they are asking for.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Go to the office! They will sort you out, depending how long you have been a customer you could get a new modem and router.

The "MODEM/ONU file" that NT Thailand requests is typically a screenshot or photo of your modem/ONU (Optical Network Unit) status page, showing:

1. Device Model & Serial Number (SN/MAC)

2. Current Connection Status (Upstream/Downstream Rate)

3. Sometimes, PON signal strength (dBm)

They want this to verify which hardware you are using and the connection details before approving an upgrade.

How to get it:

1. Connect to your router/modem via browser:

Open browser, go to common IPs like:

192.168.1.1

192.168.0.1

192.168.1.254

2. Login to modem interface:

Default username/password is often admin/admin or found on a sticker on the device.

3. Find the Status/Device Info page:

Look for sections like "Device Info", "WAN Status", "PON Info".

4. Screenshot or take a photo.

Well, yes, that gets me into my ASUS router OK but there is no status page for the modem, which is a separate unit.  I think that the best that i can do is to upload an image of the information sticker that is on the base of the ZTE modem.  If that's not enough then I'm sure that they will tell me.

Another poster has suggested that I just call into the office.  I could do that but the place is quite a hike from here so not very convenient.  I think that this can all be sorted out remotely, from their end.  Both modem and router are gigbit spec. so neither should need to be replaced.
