Thai military units, including tanks and armoured vehicles from the elite “Burapha Phayak” (Eastern Tigers) Division, were deployed on 26 July near the Rong Kluea Market in Aranyaprathet, directly across from the Cambodian town of Poipet.

The show of force comes on the third consecutive day of hostilities between Thai and Cambodian troops following reported incursions by Cambodian forces into disputed areas along the frontier. The Thai military has identified four key locations in Sa Kaeo province, two in Ta Phraya district and two in Khok Sung district, where clashes have taken place.

Rong Kluea border market, lies opposite the major casino zone in Poipet, described as a “stronghold of the call centre scam syndicates”, referred to as the “rice pot” of former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen’s patronage network.

According to the First Army Region’s Operational Command, Thai forces acting under Operation “Chakrapong Phuwanat 681” successfully repelled Cambodian troops from all four contested locations on 26 July. The operation aimed to secure areas claimed under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU43) between Thailand and Cambodia.

The Thai military has now established a continuous line of defence across the affected border area and remains on high alert to prevent further violations. Authorities have begun evacuating civilians from high-risk zones, relocating them to 19 designated temporary shelters throughout Sa Kaeo province. As of the afternoon of 26 July, a total of 4,076 people had been moved to safety.

In response to the growing crisis, the 19th Military Circle has set up a Royal Kitchen facility in Sa Kaeo’s municipal area to provide meals and care for displaced residents. Medical teams, including military doctors and medics, have also been dispatched to support field hospitals near the border.

Maybe they want to first take out the “rice pot”.

Can you please supply a link to back up this claim.

Ceasefire Status

Cambodia formally requested an immediate and unconditional ceasefire at the UN Security Council meeting on July 255.

Thailand signaled openness to talks, possibly mediated by Malaysia, which currently chairs ASEAN.

Fighting has subsided, but sporadic skirmishes were still reported as of Saturday morning.

Seems flimsy to me.....

The discussions took place on the evening of 25 July, and were hosted by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar.

There was no ceasefire agreed.

So far in another post, 63,446 people have been moved to safer zones within four provinces.

That was in other provinces, during the first 2 days of the conflict.

The 4076 is reported from Sa Kaeo province, where clashes have only started today.

There were frequent claims made on this forum by some expatriate members, particularly during intoxicated discussions, that they held a deeper love for Thailand than for their native countries and would defend it if necessary.
