"In July, job gains were concentrated in just two industries: Healthcare added 55,000 jobs and social assistance added 18,000 positions. The two accounted for 94 percent of job growth, according to the data.

Federal government payrolls fell by 12,000, amid widespread cuts enacted by the Trump administration that have amount to 94,000 positions since January.

Tariff-sensitive industries showed sluggish growth or lost jobs. Retail added 16,000 jobs, construction ticked up by 2,000 positions, and transportation and warehousing increased by 4,000 positions. Meanwhile, manufacturing lost 12,000 jobs."

The Labor Dept just released July jobs numbers, and it came in at +73,000 well below the estimate of +104,000. UE ticked up to 4.2%.

The June number, previously released as +147,000 was revised sharply lower to only +14,000. The May jobs number was also revised downward by 125,000 from its original 139,000, That means---if the news reports are correct---May and June COMBINED added only 28,000 jobs. Even if the July number is added (and one now suspects a downward revision in September), only 101,000 jobs were created since the end of April

In Biden's last full month in office, 256,000 jobs were created.

As the graph is showing, the devil is in the details! 🤣

Quote from the bls report

Revisions for May and June were larger than normal. The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for May was revised down by 125,000, from +144,000 to +19,000, and the change for June was revised down by 133,000, from +147,000 to +14,000. With these revisions, employment in May and June combined is 258,000 lower than previously reported. (Monthly revisions result from additional reports received from businesses and government agencies since the last published estimates and from the recalculation of seasonal factors.)

So since February, Average monthly growth = 557,000 ÷ 5 = 111,400 jobs per month.

Compared to average job growth under the last 12 months under Biden (270,800/month), it is a massive failure! 🤣🤣🤣

More bad news.

U.S. factory sector contracts for 5th straight month in July, ISM shows

A closely-watched index that measures U.S. manufacturing activity fell to 48 in July from 49 in the prior month, according to the Institute for Supply Management on Friday. That's the fifth straight month in contraction.

Economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal had forecast the index to inch higher to 49.5%.

How could the DOL get the monthly employment figures so dramatically wrong over three months? Maybe there's a calculation error by journalists or the Comms dept at DOL - it can't be that much different..

I hope you're right. But different journalistic sources are all reporting the same thing. Including the Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times. Not likely that they got it wrong.

Right. Though they're all just reporting what they were told by the DOL I guess. Could still be a mistake. Otherwise, wow.

Could be. But I suspect when they come up with a result like this they're going to triple check it before publication.

This report is great news for us, progressive individuals who oppose Trump. We need the economy to decline so the Democrats can secure the House and Senate in the midterm elections.

Were you rooting for Biden to succeed when he was President? Anyone, why would anyone care what you wanted or what Tug wants now.. The fact is you're just trying to avoid news not pleasing to you but going after a member instead. That's just plain vacuous. Why not try being honest and facing the issue instead?

I'm praying for recession.

I was rooting for him to have polices that benefitted Americans instead of NGOs and the world.

This is how Trump and the donor class help the working class.

Well, at least MAGAs can console themselves while standing in line at the unemployment office that there won't be any trannies in the bathrooms!

Yes indeed, many agree. We Need a new "world-order".

Problem is, after every Revolution, new Elites form. Separating the "haves" from the "no haves" in no time at all. A concept that goes back to the Sumerians.

Even the Bolchevicky after the Russian Revolution could not avoid this pyramid to evolve. = A minority rules over the majority.

We better get used to it, because this irrevocable concept has been with us for nearly 5000 years and will never change.

"The West" as we knew it is in fast decline, other "bosses" will rule. Especially as the current US administration has cut the ties between US/Europe. The most successful alliance there ever was, assuring a sort of stability for the rest of the world. = The bosses.

The "new bosses" will rule outside of benevolancy, for sure.
