Thai Airways will do just fine going forward on one condition

Do not allow Government Ministers & their hangers on from demanding free travel & that includes the Foreign Ofice who all staff thought they could "catch a freebie" whenever they wanted.

Agree, I only fly Thai, it is the only Airline to fly from Perth to BKK non-stop

THAI is not 'apolitical'

What is the political difference between a state-owned airlines that holds 50% or more of its shares versus  minority government ownership by the Minister of Finance of 40% which is its current shareholdings?

I'd say the difference between state-owned and privately-owned THAI shares is very nuanced with regard to existence of political government influence.

The politics of brown envelopes?

Why repeat an unsubstantiated  idiotic statement? The safety record of Boeing and Airbus is  for all intents and purposes the same. Boeing has more aircraft in  use, so it is to be expected that there will be more incidents. You cannot blame an airline manufacturer for pilot errors  or intentional crashes.

Thai is doing what it has always done, placed orders, some of which can be cancelled or sold off in future years.  There is a long wait for aircraft and an order today, may not be delivered for 5 years.  In the intervening years, the order might be cancelled outright, or sold to another airline, or exchanged for a different model.

While I don't doubt your point, I think you need to review each of the board of directors - and their previous careers. By 'apolitical' I didn't mean just the Thai 'government' - there are other HiSo players from the establishment that make high-level closed-door decisions in this country (as I'm pretty sure you already know).
