Crime Man Survives Abduction Attempt, Chase & Shooting Ordeal

A 27-year-old man narrowly escaped after being lured into a trap by a woman he had only known for two days, leading to a high-speed car chase and gunfire that ended with his vehicle plunging into an irrigation canal.

 

The incident occurred in the early hours of August 6, when police from Chang Yai Police Station were alerted to a car crash on Highway 9 near the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Rescue teams arrived to find a white Honda Jazz submerged in a canal, with water around two metres deep. The driver, later identified as Mr. Chakkrakrit, was rescued by a local fisherman who smashed the passenger-side window to pull him to safety.

 

Visibly shaken and suffering minor cuts from broken glass, Mr. Chakkrakrit recounted the harrowing series of events to investigators. He had met a woman named “Tawan” just two days earlier. On the night of the incident, she asked him to pick her up in the Sam Khok area of Pathum Thani, near the border of Ayutthaya province.

 

When he arrived at around 02:00, Tawan attempted to guide him into a dark field, raising his suspicions. As he turned his car to leave, he was suddenly blocked by a grey Honda Jazz with three occupants inside. Another white car pulled up behind him, boxing him in.

 

Realising the danger, Mr. Chakkrakrit fled at high speed along Route 347 and then onto Highway 9, heading towards Bang Bua Thong. During the chase, he heard what he believed were three gunshots. One of the bullets reportedly struck his front right tyre, causing it to burst.

 

Despite the damage, he continued driving until he lost control and veered into a canal. Trapped inside the sinking vehicle, he was unable to open the door until the passing fisherman intervened. The attackers reportedly exited their vehicle to check the scene but fled when they likely assumed he had not survived.

 

Mr. Chakkrakrit told police he believed Tawan had acted as a decoy to lure him into the ambush and suspected the motive was jealousy. He claimed to recognise at least one of the vehicles involved and said he had a good idea of who the perpetrators were.

 

Police are now reviewing CCTV footage along the suspected route of the attack and have called Mr. Chakkrakrit in for further questioning. Investigators are working to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for the attempted shooting and chase.
