New Sound Bar.

I bought a sound bar from Lazada on the advice of posters and the one I have works well enough and was cheap, only around 300 Baht. But I need one which has a good sound system for playing music, which means one with a good bass sound and is much more expensive. I have checked the ones on Lazada for around 2000 Baht, but they do not seem to have an input for headphones or earplugs.

I am about 50 Ks away from the big shopping malls, anyone know where I can get one? Maybe from the likes of Power Buy and Banana etc.

Good afternoon there. I got my Samsung Bar 6 years ago for Bht 7000 together with a 55 incher @ 23k..

As we all knowm you get what you pay for............Bht 300 will not give sonic performance compared with the 2000 quoted, or even my own.

Headphones are not meant to be plugged into a Soundbar, they can go directly into your Laptop, PC or phone via phono, USB or Bluetooth.

Forget about this "sound bar" nonsense and the cheap or gimmicky Bluetooth speakers that people have been pushing you to buy.

I already posted a link to what you needed in your other thread and you just ignored it.

 

If you don't want to listen to music with half of it missing, you are going to need something with a sub-woofer, preferable at least eight inches in diameter and with a suitable enclosure..

Small gimmicky speakers simply cannot reproduce the big waves necessary. So much warmth and subtlety will be missing.

Anyone who has any kind of musical knowledge will understand this. Connect your instrument, hit a low note and see how the system responds.

You can turn up the volume, increase the bass...it won't make a difference. It is missing and cannot be reproduced.

The cheap and gimmicky systems simply turn up the equalizer to the maximum, in so that everything is exaggerated and unnatural....but still lacking depth.

 

When you have a system that can reproduce the notes, you can keep the volume low and still appreciate the music.

To pick a great sound system you need to play  symphony orchestra music on it as a symphony orchestra has all the sound frequencies.

If you look at the frequency response of the system that should give you an idea of it's capabilities.

I'd get an amplifier with 500 Watts RMS power.

Sorry the first one was silly sorry, I apologise.

What's wrong with the second one?

500 W RMS per channel is the amplifier I built a long time ago, so if you have this power and a great frequency response like listening to a symphony orchestra...got all the highs and mid and low frequencies. That's what you'd want in a great sound system.

Frequency response figures quoted are mostly nonsense. The speakers certainly could not reproduce a flat response across all frequencies.

 

The speaker system to which I have linked is probably the best thing overall for his money. It also gives him a few extra functions.

Are you talking about a soundbar for a home theatre system or some kind of speaker like a JBL or Bose copy?

Likely 2.1 speakers. He wrote about two speakers, with controls in the middle. He needs bass for listening to music. So a sub woofer seems essential, even with a soundbar.

 

My recommendation above, cover all bases.

+1 for the 2.1 recommendation.  I have the opposite problem.  Too many 2.1 systems and now have to decide which system to keep and which ones to sell.

Mine are out of his price range.

 

Personally, I’d go second hand with just 2 speakers.  Something like the Bose Companion 2 series II.  I had a pair many years ago (and gave them away!) and for the price, you can’t really go wrong.  Even the bass is surprisingly good.

 

I have a pair of Q Audio BTS3 (not for sale) which I’d recommend for the next step and even before the Bose as they have Bluetooth capability.  Not sure how easy to find used though.  Again….good bass response.

The pricier sound bars of today are fantastic compared to what they were a few years ago.  The one I'm looking at is the Klipsch Lexus Core 200 one popular reviewer couldn't believe how much sound and bass it delivers. The sound bar by itself is 19,000 baht here in Thailand and it has an RCA out if you want to add a sub. It also has Bluetooth and a few other connections along with an App. 

 

I have a stocky/heavy Fender Monterey Bluetooth speaker that I got on sale at Banana for around 11,000 baht and it's amazing I wish they still made them.

The Bass box on mine connects via Bluetooth and the sound system has it's own remote. The Firestick remote adjusts the volume coming into the U Green BT box, as well as being able to control my WiFi light bulbs and TCL air-cons via the mic.

But I use GlycoX installed in all my devices.

You can buy the cheaper Samsung soundbars which have sub-woofer. If you have a Samsung TV they can be controlled with the TV remote.

Does the sound from the front stand mounted speakers not interfere with each other. In my experience..YES.
