A 39-year-old man has been shot dead following a violent confrontation with a long-time rival in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

Police said the shooting happened just before midnight on 26 August at a house in Moo 3, Phlian Subdistrict, Sichon District. Officers and rescue workers arrived to find Mr Anothai with five gunshot wounds to his body. He was rushed to Tha Sala Hospital but later died of his injuries.

At the scene, investigators recovered five 9mm bullet casings.

Police identified the suspect as 48-year-old Mr Suthep, a man known to have an ongoing feud with the victim. The pair had reportedly clashed on several occasions in the past, with disputes escalating into physical fights.

According to investigators, Suthep had driven to Anothai’s home intending to “settle the matter”, but the confrontation ended in heated argument and gunfire. He fled in a pickup truck immediately afterwards.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Suthep’s arrest. However, he later contacted relatives and agreed to surrender to police. Officers say he has confessed to the shooting, citing personal grievances as the motive.

Police are continuing their investigation and Suthep will face prosecution.
