A 29-year-old woman was killed when her motorcycle was struck and dragged beneath a lorry in Pathum Thani on the morning of 27 August.

The crash occurred at around 09.30 on Rangsit–Pathum Thani Road, opposite a PTT petrol station in Bang Phun, Mueang district. Police,  doctors and rescue volunteers rushed to the scene.

The victim was identified as Ms Suchada Luangchan, 29, from Nakhon Nayok. Her body was discovered in the right-hand lane, around ten metres from the wreckage of her motorcycle, which had been crushed and set on fire after being run over by the lorry. A passer-by used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.

The vehicle involved was an Isuzu lorry with Nakhon Pathom registration plates. Its driver, Mr Suriyan Yaemsaeng, 34, told police he had been transporting sand from Nakhon Pathom to Bang Na when the collision occurred.

“I didn’t see the motorcycle at all. I only realised something was wrong when it felt like the wheels had run over something. That’s when I stopped and got out to check,” he said.

A nearby noodle shop owner, who helped extinguish the burning bike, said he had not witnessed the moment of impact but saw flames erupting as the motorcycle was trapped beneath the lorry.

Police photographed the scene for evidence before sending Ms Suchada’s body to the Ministry of Justice’s Institute of Forensic Medicine.

Mr Suriyan was taken to Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station for questioning and further legal proceedings, as the investigation continues.
