Buriram Internet Options

Featured Replies

Wife will be visiting her family next month. They live 3 kilometers outside of the city. They are having a phone installed next month, but were told that trying to use it for the Internet would be a waste of time.

She just wants to use the Internet for checking email and reading the news. We are buying a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista.

Is GPRS/Edge a viable option (download speeds aren't a major issue )?

What provider would you recommend?

She has only basic cumputer skills. Will the internet providers set-up her computer with the appropriate hardware and drivers?

Thanks for any assistance you can give!

It all depends who in fact will set up the phone line. TOT is an option. What they (TOT) normally will do is set up the cabling in her house and that is it. Maybe the TOT technican may install her the Internet too.

What I fear is the fact that outside the cities, phone lines are usually really dody and therefore nothing may work. She would have to ask TOT if they guarantee a certain speed at the box in-house where the computer is going to be hooked up.

The alternative is to go downton and just check her mail and read the news. That is less troublesome and not so expensive, if she is not a computer savvy.
